When I tell you I am grateful to Megan of the past for keeping hold of this skirt, boy oh boy am I!
This piece has only been worn three times, during it's 5 years in my wardrobe. This would usually result in a firm, yet hypothetical, "MUST SELL" label imprinted to it.
However, something was holding me back. It's almost as if I KNEW that this skirt would come into it's own, almost too good to pass on, one of those keep it or regret it pieces, we all have them right!?
I'm even more grateful to myself for not selling as I've been really enjoying the whole kilt trend that has been around for the last few years, if it ever really left at all? Check and tartan are prints that seem to stand the test of time, they always have a place in my wardrobe and on the catwalks alike.
However, when paired with a bomber jacket or a moto jacket, the kilt trend is amplified and taken to a whole different level of cool, in my opinion at least.
I saw tonnes of girlies rocking this kind of look whilst out in Copenhagen for fashion week, which I found super inspiring. Not to mention Claudia Winkleman's epic wardrobe during the filming of Traitors which featured kilts-a-plenty! So as soon as I returned home, I headed straight to my wardrobe and dug this baby out!

Inspired by the girlies at CPHFW I paired my JW Anderson x Uniqlo kilt with my Acne Studios puffer coat, which I thought made a really great pairing due to the contrast of textures and also silhouettes. Keeping things streamline on the bottom with my Ganni knee boots, and with simple styling to my top half (aside from the coat of course) with a long sleeved white tee and a grey V neck knit vest. Rounding off the look with a sprinkling of yet more tartan with my old faithful Mulberry bag.
