One trend I look forward to coming back around every autumn/winter is tartan check.
It is so dependable that I don't even think we can call it a trend anymore. Similar to that of florals for spring, and tartans buddies, burgundy, brown and suede. Such predictable pals of autumn, but that's why I love them so much.
They're reliable, they're not a passing trend and they come back around year in and year out in some way or form, meaning they're good things to invest in, "they" being tartan checks, burgundy, brown and suede...
But today, I thought I'd put the spotlight on tartan as I've been REALLY enjoying seeing what the high street has come up with this season to nail our old faithful pal.
Whether it's classic checked wool mini skirts and kilts, checked shirts and coats or just a touch of tartan with a scunchie, there's a tartan check for everyone and I've curated my faves for this season below for you to take a peek at. Particular highlights include Boden, they have GONE FOR IT with all things tartan and it is joyful and sensational! In fact, I must give Boden a pat on the back generally as there AW24 collection is nothing short of wonderful! I could honestly do a whole post dedicated to a Boden wishlist, it's simply that good.
Damson Madder are another brand who are killing it with all things tartan in a really cool and refreshing way, but when do they ever not kill it!?
I've been wearing this orange Hobbs tartan skirt a lot lately during this transitional phase of the season as I just adore bare leg and boots season so much and, as it's always so fleeting, I've been leaning into mini skirts, bare legs and boots rather heavily since the first signs of autumn hit.
I always feel very St Trinians but with a Matilda from the film Leon mix, a combination that will always feel good to me. The Cher Horowitz check is all well and good, but I feel this season (and most AW's for me at least) tartan looks best when grunged up with chunky boots, leather and lashings of textures.
But anyway, enough from me, here are my picks, I hope you love.

I think the trouble in the past was one of two things, or maybe even both things.
A) I wasn't going short enough
B) My fringe was too full
Both of these things I've done differently this time and right now I think this is the hair for me. The hair I should have always had. I actually can't see me going back.
At just beneath jaw level it's short, it's blunt and it's SO FREAKING EASY TO STYLE! The only thing I need to do each morning is style or manipulate my fringe, which, this time is a much softer and looser fringe, meaning I look a lot less "mushroomy" than I have in previous bob eras of mine. It truly is a gamechanger for me and it's nice to have my self confidence back, something I feel left me as I ventured into motherhood.
I have gained confidence in many areas of my life since becoming a mother, however, my self confidence and love for myself and my appearance seemed to dwindle as my body changed, my face grew older and I did struggle to recognise myself from time to time.
A little/big hair refresh was all I needed and I'm finding everything I used to find fun about styling, well, fun again!
It's liberating!
