I've had these images sitting in my drafts for quite some time, not really knowing what to discuss in conjunction with them. I’m sat in my favourite coffee shop wracking my brain and looking and re-looking over the photos when it hit me, this outfit features my absolute ultimate investment piece, my beloved Saks Potts leather coat.
So with that, I thought I’d talk about some of my most favourite and treasured investments in my wardrobe.
I’ve always enjoyed saving up for the perfect handbag or occasionally a fabulous pair of shoes, but never too much on actual clothing. And to be honest, this hasn’t really changed all too much. I still somewhat begrudge spending hundreds on clothing, unless it’s something totally unique that I will wear over and over again. But since I don’t shop for clothes even close to half as much as I used to, I was really disappointed in the coat offerings from both the high street AND the designer market this winter. There was NOTHING that matched my criteria of a great quality black coat with a bit of interest to it. I’ve had my trusty & Other Stories black wool coat for around 3 years now, and whilst I love it, it was looking a little tired and it was just a very simple black coat that I wore all the time, for anything from walking the dogs, dinner dates, work days in coffee shops and as a cover up on nights dancing with the girls. It was a great coat but it just wasn’t giving me what I needed. If I was going to invest in a black coat and wear it for all occasions, I felt, personally, that I had to absolutely LOVE IT! And I decided that, that meant investing in something I’d had my eye on for years upon years.
In steps the Saks Potts Foxy coat in black, a shape of coat that screamed my name and was exactly what I was looking for. I debated it for months and months and then once it arrived, even tried talking myself out of keeping it as it really was such a crazy investment. But once I’d tried it on with a few looks from my wardrobe, I just knew that it would be my everything coat for many years to come. And boy was I right.
I’ve worn it practically every single day since it came into my life and I just know this will continue for many an autumn through to winter through to spring, to come. That cost-per-wear is already so stinking low right now.

COAT- SAKS POTTS, SHIRT- URTEQUE, KNIT- ARKET, JEANS- MANGO, BOOTS- ARKET, BAG- c/o MULBERRY

So, that’s my latest investment piece and probably my first piece of extremely spenny clothing and so far, there are absolutely no regrets here!
As for handbags and shoes, yep, I still have a real penchant for them. My Chanel bag will always be my most special of bags, coming out only on special occasions and adding so much fun to every single look. I turn 30 this year and hope to treat myself to a slightly more classic handbag from Chanel, so watch this space for that. Chanel is always such a great brand to invest in as they’re always increasing in value, should you choose to resell in the future… Not something I plan on doing as I tend to really, truly think about everything I invest in, with not a single thought of “… If not I can always sell it”
Shoe-wise you’ll not be surprised to hear that my Louis Vuitton Derby brogues are my ultimate shoe investment 4ever & ever, IDST!
They completely have my heart two years since purchasing them and tbh, I fall more in love with them with every wear. They’re also SO insanely comfortable too which is a huge bonus as I do find that luxury shoes tend to be made from great quality leather which can be super tough to break in, but not with these babies.
Anyway, there we have the investment pieces in the top spots for the categories clothing, bags and shoes. I hope you enjoyed this post and if you would like any further info on any of these pieces, or anything else from my wardrobe, then please do let me know.
