Today at long last I'm getting my oh so positive thoughts about the Happiest Baby Smart Sleeper, aka The Snoo, down into the world...prepare for a rave review!
This piece of kit, despite being ever so pricey, is my hero 'new baby' item! If we were to have twins in the future or if, god forbid, something happened to the one we already have, I would save up to buy an additional, or new, Snoo without a shadow of a doubt. It saved our souls during those early days, and I truly believe that it taught Goldie all she needs to know about sleep, including how to self settle.
But what is The Snoo? Well, The Snoo is a smart bassinet that gently rocks your baby as they sleep, whilst offering comfort through white noise as well. If your baby begins to cry, or become unsettled, The Snoo can detect this and will increase its rocking action along with the type of white noise, which works to help soothe your baby back to sleep.
It’s essentially like having an extra pair of hands which, during those early days, was truly a god send particularly as it meant Goldie would fall back to sleep within moments of the rocking action increasing. I personally don’t like to ever let Goldie cry, so this wasn’t a case of letting her cry it out and allowing the Snoo to do our job for us, it was only when Goldie was in-between sleep cycles, so perhaps fussing a little, that The Snoo would work it’s magic and allow Goldie to realise that she could actually put herself back to sleep, meaning longer naps in the day and a better night sleep for us all.
Both the white noise and the rocking does time out within a short time if your baby gets too upset, so there’s no need to worry there.

The Snoo has a huge number of safe sleep benefits, which is what I found really reassuring from the get-go, as that was the thing I was most anxious about as a first time mum. The Snoo offers a swaddle which is secured to the sides of the bassinet, so they won’t roll onto their fronts (another huge worry of mine). You can go for a complete swaddle with your babies arms in, or have your babies arms out if they prefer, which Goldie did from very early on. There has been no reported cases of SIDs so far with babies who have slept in the Snoo, which is such a reassuring statistic, particularly if, like me, you’re waking up and checking they're breathing every 30 minutes…
Goldie was a great sleeper from the beginning, sleeping 4-5 hours straight from the night we brought her home, which only got better as we introduced the Snoo at about 3 weeks old (you can use The Snoo from day one).
Many babies can manage this by themselves of course, and I’m by no means saying that The Snoo is the sleeping-cure-all, however, I do think it really helped us get more sleep than we might have done without it.
Goldie has always been quite an independent baby, and has enjoyed sleeping on her own in her Snoo, and now in her big girl cot, and I truly believe that the Snoo is the reason for this. She’s an absolute pro at self soothing, which I know can be quite a difficult thing to teach a baby to do. Now, she’s long since graduated from The Snoo, and is enjoying being in her cot, but things haven’t changed and the transition was really smooth with The Snoo's weaning mode, which meant the swaying and white noise stopped once she was asleep and only started up again if she stirred, unlike the usual mode which is continuous throughout the night.

The Snoo also comes with a super handy app, that I was completely addicted to, as I love being able to monitor her sleep. It connects to the smart sleeper and records their sleep cycle, which we found really useful as it meant we were able to monitor her wake hours and start her nap routine at the right point before a tired meltdown would occur.
Not only has The Snoo meant we’ve all got some great quality sleep during the night, and Goldie learnt to nap and soothe herself to sleep, but The Snoo is also a really gorgeous design from an interiors perspective. I adore the white with the walnut wood, the hair pin legs and how it worked really well with the vibe of both our bedroom and Goldie’s room when we moved her into her own space at 4 months.
As you can probably tell, I am a huge Snoo fan and truly believe it is worth it’s weight in gold. As I mentioned above, The Snoo is a pricey one but the team at Happiest Baby have kindly offered you 25% off with my very own code MEG25 for the next 3 days (valid until November 3rd) so if you’ve been thinking about taking the plunge now is most definitely the time.
Please let me know if you have any questions about The Snoo, about Goldie’s sleep or anything in between, I am all ears.
