I've always been such an outerwear fiend and after I was very sensible last year having reworn the coats from previous years and since I am pregnant this year and will be struggling with clothes for the most part and the thought of throwing a statement coat that makes me feel absolutely fabulous is probably going to be one of my only sartorial joys of the season; I thought I'd invest. AND BREATHE!
I've invested in two rather gorgeous coats that are going to bring me so much joy all winter long and that are such great assets to my wardrobe. Pieces I'm going to adore year in and year out and pieces that are of a higher quality so will last year in and year out. I adore the high street but I must say having worn my high street coats day in and day out last year and the year before that, they haven't really lasted all that well. So I learnt my lesson and went for something a little more spendy and a lot more fabulous this winter.
But before I get onto those I have invested in, I wanted to share a piece that is actually a press sample gifted to me from the wonderful Charlotte Simone team. In a view of being more sustainable Charlotte now uses only faux fur (finally!!!!!) and has also limited the amount of each piece from the collection, meaning each piece is only available to purchase for just one week, how awesome is that! Similarly to what we do at Saturday By Megan Ellaby when a piece is gone it's actually gone and there are only a handful of each piece available which I think makes the whole investment all the more special!
This particular coat is honestly so magic, it's the kind of piece that can be layered up the way I've done here but as it's made from a relatively thin material it's actually going to see me through into spring too which is super exciting!
It's the ultimate Penny Lane coat, something I've always LOVED and as you might be able to tell I have gone in rather hard on this season!
The Charlotte Simone winter collection is available until Wednesday so act fast and whilst you're there take a lil peek at the handbags too, they're SO DAMN CUTE!

COAT- c/o CHARLOTTE SIMONE, SUNGLASSES- RAYBAN, BLOUSE- RESUME via ZALANDO, JUMPER- ACNE STUDIOS (old similar here), JEANS- & OTHER STORIES (old similar here), TRAINERS- CONVERSE

COAT- MADS NORGAARD via ZALANDO, SUNGLASSES- RAYBAN, TROUSERS- RECLAIMED VINTAGE @ ASOS, BOOTS- c/o ALOHAS

Now for a serious pop of colour and what I am now referring to as my "happy jacket"
Mads Norgaard is a new brand on my radar but a cult brand amongst all the awesome Scandi creators out there. I've been eyeing up the brand ever since spying this insane "shacket" on two of my fave fashionistas Marianne and Anais and since it sold out everywhere was SO STOKED to see this colourful coat version added to their winter offering.
It's boxy and oversized, it reminds me of something an old lady would wear and it's just a coat full of joy. I've been wearing it SO much lately as it's one of those coats that looks really awesome dressed down like this, but then just as fabulous when styled up too.
I'd definitely add Mads Norgaard to your brands to watch list if you're into colour and classic design like me.

COAT- SHRIMPS, SUNGLASSES- GUCCI, BAG- LOUIS VUITTON via VESTIAIRE COLLECTIVE, DUNGAREES- ASOS (old similar here), JUMPER- SATURDAY BY MEGAN ELLABY, TRAINERS- c/o GOOD NEWS

And finally for today's blogpost we have a newbie by Shrimps that I've been absolutely itching to wear for WEEKS AND WEEKS! I saw this on their website and just knew that it would be mine one day! I knew that I wanted to invest in a checked coat this season as I didn't have one in my wardrobe currently and they are such a key trend for this winter. The fact this coat is checked and also combines the whole retro faux fur collar and cuffs into the mix was a no brainer for me, two trends in one baby!
This one is particularly special in my opinion as it also has a faux fur trim to the hemline too which is such a beautiful touch; that, and the fact that the clasp of the belt is a gorgeous perspex flower are such special touches if you ask me!
As you can see, similarly to the other coats within this post it's SO important that my outerwear investments can be worn in a multitude of different ways. They can be styled up and styled down, for day and for night and for pregnancy and after pregnancy and all three coats featured here can do just that.
I've styled up two of my older outerwear purchases in addition to these newbies too in my latest Reels video if you care to take a peek. The Green leather trench is by Alexa Chung and the yellow baby is by Topshop both are from last year, I was just lucky enough to find my size in their spring sale huzzah!
