Oh the joys of clothing, styling and fashion in general!
Clothes are still a certified way to make me feel so much better, a small token that has been making a huge difference to my mood and consequently my entire day for as long as I can remember.
Small tokens are what we need right now, particularly if they make a huge difference to our day and especially right now, in a world that feels ever so scary, temperamental and uncertain.
So with that, I'm greeting my small little token wins with open arms and I'm wearing my most special of pieces simply for prancing around the house for an hour or two until it's time for winding things down (again) and slipping back into the sweatpants I've been wearing endlessly... Anyone else with me on this?
I have a few key pieces that really do bring in that joy factor and this dress by Olivia Rubin is one of them. A multicoloured silk dress with tiers aplenty. A dress that resembles a birthday cake and that connotes all those joyful and youthful feelings within me. I only have to glance at this dress hanging in my wardrobe to feel those happy vibes, it really is such a magic piece of clothing! Whether it's clothes or cake (eating it and baking it), that morning light, that song that reminds you of that time and place, that poem, book, game or that activity, if it brings you joy grab onto it with everything you've got and be unapologeticaly swept away in it. It doesn't matter if others don't understand why you're getting all dressed up simply to stay home or walk your dogs, if it makes you feel good then that's what it's all about, those small tokens, those small wins and small pieces of joy that centre us and make us grateful for the life we have once again.
I feel a little hippy dippy writing this but I really am feeling so happy, positive and grateful right now. I've had a crap year, like all of us but I'm beginning to find some solace in that and it's allowed me to find good in the bad and to realise what really, truly matters and let me tell you, it's those small things in life!
Lots of love.
