How are we all? I hope you're all doing really well and have been enjoying this sunshine, despite the overbearing heat of an evening... A good nights sleep wouldn't go a miss soon I must say.
I've been taking things a little slower lately and looking after myself, my mind and my future and it's been really nice to take a step back from what's directly in front of me and really evaluating everything with what feels like a fresh set of eyes. I think it's important to do that from time to time, that, along with journalling which has been helping me no end and of course my seasonal goals setting, something I have neglected so far this year but will be back to sharing with you really soon.
Making plans that I hope will come to fruition for both my personal life and my career and excitingly having almost been in our new home for a year now we're starting to think about some renovations and some decorating that we'd like to get stuck in to this winter which is SO FREAKING EXCITING! As I said when we first moved into this place I really wanted to take things slow, to live in the space for some time and to really work out what is missing, what we need/like and how we'd like to develop the space into something that feels really truly like us. I've been designing the space digitally which has been super fun and gathering tonnes and tonnes of inspiration via the likes of Pinterest and Instagram Saves which I'd be happy to share with you some time if it is of interest to you lot?
I've also been enjoying summer styling for the first time in a really long time. I've always dreaded the summer months as I feel that I loose a bit of my styling mojo as the weather heats up. I like to layer, to play around with proportions, textures and accessories, all of which is harder to do when the temperature hits 32 degrees as they have this week.
However, finding my summer footwear in the form of the good ole grand-al and falling back in love with my trainer collection has allowed everything else to fall into place. Oh and the addition of one or two summer dresses has also been really good in the summer styling inspiration stakes.

I think my reason for enjoying wearing dresses so much lately is how easily they can transition into cooler or even colder days through layering both underneath and over the top. I used to believe that a dress was a silly purchase as it didn't really lend itself to different ways of styling but oh how wrong I was. Layering an oversized T-Shirt over the top of your fave summer dress and pairing with your battered trainers is such a strong way to transition your dresses, likewise to popping a slimmer fitting tee or high neck top underneath the dress instead to create a new look entirely. And of course once winter rears it's ugly head you can throw on a chunky knitted jumper or cardigan or even all of the above to make a super fun layered look so your summer dress isn't such an "only worn one way" piece after all.
This little rainbow number should really be worn in even hotter climates a piece you can slip on over a bikini after a day relaxing at the beach or a piece you pair with heeled espadrilles, a top knot, statement earrings and your fave sunglasses for an evening out... Am I right!? But alas, no holidays for me this year so rocking it at home in my garden or around Manchester is the next best thing. Rainbows and ruffles, well, it was always going to be a huge YES from me.
