I hate to say it, because it feels like there's barely been a summer here in the UK, or at least a summer like we've known summer's before. BUT today I woke up and put my dressing gown straight on, contemplated putting the heating on for an hour, until George firmly put a stop to that stating "It's only August hun..." but yeah, it felt cold man! There was such a chill in our house and Storm Frances was kicking up a storm (ho ho ho) outside which left me feeling like I had woken up in the depths of autumn or dare I say it, winter!
So what better way to combat those moments of fear for the winter that is to come than to look back over some of my fave summer dresses...
I did a lil IGTV recently showcasing my all time fave summer dresses (watch it here if you like); Pieces I'd collected over the years and bring out of hibernation each summer. And whilst each and every one of them I still love and adore, I've had a couple of newbies enter my wardrobe this summer that I feel I need to be shout about a little more.

DRESS- c/o GHOST, SUNGLASSES- GUCCI, BAG- c/o CHLOE, SHOES- LOUIS VUITTON
The first is this utter beauty by Ghost, a brand I've had my eye on over the last year or so and a brand that mamma Ellaby is a huge fan of also. This is my second dress by Ghost (this is the other I have) and both I've worn over and over again. This particular dress is such a great shape for me, it flatters my figure with it's somewhat fishtail silhouette, that ruffle hemline is everything!!!! I also adore the high neck (naturally) and the super cute ditsy floral print, something I usually don't rate but when it comes in this stunning blue shade, the silhouette of my dreams and also features some statement shoulders, it's a print I can finally get on board with.
This was a gift from the Ghost team but I'm seriously considering treating myself to the pink version too. Ive worn this blue baby so many times already as it's a piece that makes me feel fab. You know when you're having one of those wardrobe meltdowns before you're due to head out, well this has been my saviour! It also looks fab when toughened up with a leather jacket or leather blazer too and I'm rather excited to throw on a chunky jumper or sweatshirt over the top when that autumn chill inevitably arrives.

DRESS- c/o & OTHER STORIES, BAG- STAUD, SHOES- LOUIS VUITTON
It's true what they say, a black dress really is all you need! And more fool me for not believing them sooner eh!
This dress oh boy oh boy this dress! I'm completely obsessed with it and its fast become one of those pieces that comes EVERYWHERE with me as I know it makes me feel great whether I wear it for casual occasions or more fancier affairs too. The silhouette is beyond dreamy, the shoulders are just statement enough for my more-on-the-petite-side-frame and the beautiful fabric with a slight sheen to it is just simple divine.
I wouldn't usually opt for this type of dress during the summer months, however, it's been a really wonderful piece in my wardrobe over the past few months, particularly since lockdown has been eased. I'm loving wearing it with grand-als on warmer days, my trusty socks and Louis Vuitton brogues for all occasions but I'm also really excited to one day wear it with a pair of heels or heeled knee boots... Roll on winter if only just for that reason (teehee)
It's one of my besties weddings at the end of the year (fingers crossed Covid doesn't spoil it for her<3) and I'm imagining wearing this with a pair of sheer tights, maybe with a touch of sparkle in them and of course a statement pair of disco ready platform heels... Ooooooo the excitement!
It's by & Other Stories and in true to form Megan style I'm urging them to bring it out in some more colour options, 'cause when I like something, I reeeeaallly like something.

DRESS- SPRINGTIME IN BROOKLYN, BAG- ROOP, SHOES- GUCCI
And last but no means least we have my super stunning, handmade Springtime In Brooklyn dress that I got last summertime and just adore wearing so so much.
It's one of those pieces that feels totally luxurious in every way, with it's INSANE sleeve detailing (can you tell I have a thing for sleeves right now!?), it's beautiful printed silk that has the most delicate tie dye effect to it and of course the COVERED BUTTONS, you know I am HERE for covered buttons always!
Springtime In Brooklyn, create the most stunning pieces that are of a very small run due to the fabric being so carefully and lovingly sourced. The pieces are then made to order so when you get your hands on one, you treasure that little baby forever!
The team at SIB got in touch the other the day with some fabulous news, they had managed to source more of this beautiful tie-dyed silk HUZZAAAAAH! I thought i'd let you know as I've had so many questions about this particular dress in this particular print so thought you'd be excited to know that your dreams of owning this dress could come true. And honestly, you won't be disappointed I'm telling you!
Anyhoo that's enough summer dress chat for one day I'm off upstairs to find a jumper...

All super pretty dresses, esp the &other stories one, but I think those fabulous LV derby shoes are the star of the show (and the way you combine them with the blue Ghost dress is amazing)! Been looking for a more budget friendly alternative of the similar style since I first saw them on your insta. They’re quite a timeless piece imho x
