I've been doing a lot of thinking about the future, about myself and pretty much pondering all aspects of life lately, I think it's the beginning of a new year, a new decade and also the fact that this year is going to be pretty life changing for me. I'm feeling really rather reflective right now with my thoughts whizzing around my head at 70mph, but one thing that is making me feel super good is simply appreciating things. Appreciating all that I have and have achieved both big and small but mainly small. The small things in life often get overlooked but I've always been one to appreciate them, often more than the big obvious good things in life 'cause to me, it's those small things that bring me immense joy.
So, with that, I thought I'd share some of those small pieces of joy that make my day that little bit better. The small things in life that allow you to take heed and to appreciate what you have in that very moment. Tiny happenings that take a day from bad to good in seconds. Little goings on that we all need to take a moment to stop, to take in and to appreciate more 'cause let me tell you the more you reflect on these little teeny, tiny things that are thrown your way, the more fabulous you'll feel. Honestly, appreciate that cup of tea you're drinking right now, really appreciate it, tastes better right!?
I don't plan too far ahead when it comes to blog posts, usually a week or two in advance BUT I've written this style of post twice over the past two years and both of them have gone out at a very similar time... How weird is that!? It must have something to do with January as I said, however I'm so happy to say that I'm in a better place to that of last year and the year before that, thanks goodness! If you fancy reading some more feel good small things then check out these posts here and here. Now let's get on with the show shall we...

1.You lot styling Saturday By Megan Ellaby pieces is one thing that is bringing me immense joy lately. It's honestly so mind blowing for me to be tagged in an image on Instagram of you rocking your Saturday By Megan Ellaby pieces even more so when I see it IRL; there is honestly nothing like spotting someone wearing something you've designed walking down the street! I put my heart and soul into this project and I truly, truly adore it, so seeing you all styling up the pieces I've designed and loving wearing them is honestly such a tonic. I can't thank you enough for all of your support on my little business.
2.My home is my biggest joy of all. I've become even more of a home bird (if that was ever possible) since we moved into this house and I simply adore being at home. There's moments when I wake up and sleepily walk downstairs, moments when all the candles are lit on an evening and random moments throughout when I am overcome with emotion and joy for our beautiful little home, it's so wonderful to appreciate something you've worked hard for.
3.Finding a parking space you can drive straight into is up there with one of the best fist pumping moments right now! Since passing my driving test last August I'm still yet to master reversing into a parking space so when I can drive straight on through, well that fills me with all the feels.
4.My Dad on Instagram Stories kills me every time! He's not an avid Instagram user but since these random selection filters for stories have come about Dad's been taking to stories to share what he is and it's killing me. It's so cute to see him filming himself as he waits to see what football team he is or what Gregg's pasty he is... WHAT A CUTIE!

5.It doesn't happen every day but every now and again George will wake me with a hot cup of coffee and my goodness is that one good way to start the day. In bed, with the blinds open so the sun (what there is of it) can stream through whilst I sip on my coffee, corrrrr I wish that could happen every day.
6.Walking my dogs super early on a crisp sunny morning is one of my favourite moments of the week. We obviously walk the dogs every day but a crisp sunny day is good for the soul. We've been making an effort to get up a little earlier to walk them together so we can catch up with one another and it's truly one of my favourite parts of the week.
7.Since kicking off 2020 I've been writing a lot more and I'm truly loving it. My blog is one of my favourite things in the world so to take the time to nurture it, to write, style and shoot for it, well thats just dandy. Writing three posts a week is something I've wanted to do for so many years now and to finally have the time to dedicate to it is truly wonderful indeed. I love chatting with you all in the comments of each post and that brings me much more joy than a quick double tap on an Instagram square.
8.My dogs, they bring me endless joy, need I say more?

9.New socks, is there anything better than putting on a brand new pair of socks?
10.Natural light is something I've spoke of before but I just love catching those moments where the sun streams in through the window or pops around a corner and makes everything look 10x more beautiful.
11.Music is something that brings me endless joy but discovering a song old or new that gets you bopping is utterly priceless.
12.It would appear that a lot of what brings me joy takes place in the morning which makes sense as if you are able to start your day off right then you're in good stead for the rest of the day no? Getting up 30 minutes earlier to sit on the sofa and tackle a chapter or two of my book really does make me happy. I've always been a morning person but rather than getting stuck into work as soon as I wake up I'm choosing to read instead which is utterly glorious I must admit.

13.Yet another morning related small thing but if I can wake up in the morning and look into the mirror to clear skin, well thats the best small news ever right now! I walk to the bathroom all bleary eyed and with bated breath to see what state my skin is in today and to be greeted without a new blemish or two is truly remarkable. I think it has a lot to do with this skincare routine, although it isn't exactly foolproof just yet looking at my skin today...
14.I know it sounds weird but I really love the feeling of aching after a work out. I've been going to regular barre classes at BLOK lately and I just love the sensation of my whole body aching. It feels like a job well done and that I'm doing good for my body and I am HERE FOR IT!
15.And finally, if you know me you'll be expecting this but my goodness do I lose my mind if I hear a cow bell in a song. There's something about a cow bell that brings me a flash of feel good joy, so much so that I feel every song should feature a cow bell in some capacity...

So yeah, take a moment to appreciate all those magical little small things in life, it works wonders for the soul. I'd love to hear what your ultimate small thing is and to possibly add them to my list too ๐
I'd also love to learn about any topics you'd like to read about here on my blog so if you have any ideas or suggestions please do let me know ๐
Thanks for reading

Love this outfit, you look flawless!! I think my number one small thing has to also be waking up to a good cup of coffee in bed — it’s my favourite way to start the day. Or similarly, reading a good book with coffee ๐ xx
Hells yes to coffee in bed, what a treat! x
Loved this!! I live day by day just appreciating tiny little things that many people wouldnโt bother with but they make me so happy, seeing daffodils blooming, the sun shining through the curtains of a morning and finishing good book!xx
That is beautiful Abbi, I’m so glad you, like me appreciate those small things in life! x
Loved this! Can definitely relate to the car parking bit, itโs been a whole year and Iโve still managed to go without ๐ same with motor ways !!
HAHAHA YES ANNA! I’m so glad I’m not the only one haha! I’m deffo gonna need to attempt the motorway soon but my god it’s terrifying! x
Oh Meg!
You are (as always) reading in my mind! Today was such a terrible day… I woke up this morning with a call, I need to do works at home and they postponed my works… Then lots of other things wrong… Everything was black since I’ve red this…. I totally agree with you, we just need to stop for few minutes and think to the sweetest thing, to what make us happy! I red everything makes you happy and I can “share” with you those special moments! Thank you Megan, thank you. Really, I can finally end this terrible day with positive vibes, your positive vibes. You saved my day. Thank you, please keep writing โค๏ธ
Ohhh Adriana I’m so sorry that day started on the wrong foot, never good when that happens but I’m glad you find a small pocket of happiness through my post, thats so lovely to hear x
Similarly, I love opening the blinds and seeing the morning light pour in. I like the quiet of the morning, and being able to hear the pets paws click across the floor. Hot coffee. A splash of cold water on the face, and the feeling of your skin soaking in a good moisturizer. When an outfit just comes together on the first try. A good hair day. Texts from someone you love. The list goes on.
This was a great exercise in practicing gratitude. Thank you!
Pets paws clicking across the floor!!!! YES!!! What a joy! Thanks so much for sharing your small things, I’ve deffo added to my list now since reading yours xx
Yes!!! Some appreciation for brand new socks! Best feeling ever! Love your posts btw ๐
Ahhh thanks babes! x
One of my little joy is to take time to sit and read your blog ๐ it always puts me in a more positive mood !
Other little joys, in a mess : waking up between my boyfriend and my little cat, feeling loved ๐, entering my grand parents house, being by the sea, drinking a tea from my favorite mug, waking up to a sunny day in Paris, a glass of wine and my best friend, a hug from my mama, getting into bed after a long day, hot baths, the smell of clean bed sheets, sun warming the skin for the first time in Spring and the list could go on and on and on !
Oh Elina wow that is so so wonderful to hear! I can so relate to your other small things too, I’ve swiftly added to my list, thank you so much for sharing! xxx
Last year I found myself constantly planning that I felt the joy had come out of doing the small things because I was waiting to move on to the next big planned event. Iโve started the year slower, taking time to be and in doing so I am appreciating; reading a little each day, a morning cuddle with my husband, making time to work out, walking the dog (no matter the weather, walking clears my mind), moisturising my face, taking the time to reply to friends texts/calls. Being more aware and mindful to get off the hamster wheel is refreshing ๐
I can SO relate to sometimes feeling so busy that you fail to stop and appreciate the small things around you. So thrilled to hear you’ve been able to slow down a little this year and couldn’t agree with you more about morning cuddles and walking the dogs <3 x
