Hello everyone, I’m back after a mini blogging hiatus. A combination of being super busy, moving house and not having any time to style up and shoot some looks meant that I was completely barren in the blog content department... not something I like to be!
But alas, last week Rosie and I managed to sync up our diaries and shot a whole host of looks that you’ll be seeing over the next few weeks, today being the first one.
This and looks very similar to this (see here) have pretty much been my uniform throughout summer, playing with silhouettes and particularly hemlines that I hadn’t experimented with before but silhouettes and hemlines I am truly loving right now. I thought it would be nice to give my summer uniform a bit of an autumnal spin; a darker colour palette combined with buttery textures and of course a spot of layering. It’s a look I imagine you’ll see me rocking a lot this coming season, I just love how you can pair it with trainers as I have here but then also amp up with a pair of statement knee boots which create a new look entirely. The leather blazer is new in from & Other Stories and I know from the countless DM's over on Instagram that you lot are digging it just as much as I am. It's proving such a versatile piece and I'm finding myself reaching for it constantly! Similarly to the leopard print maxi skirt by Essentiel Antwerp (a brand you HAVE to know about) it's such a flattering silhouette and my favourite kind of subtle leopard print whilst also being super comfortable indeed. You'll certainly be seeing a lot more from both of these wardrobe faves.

But anyway, I wanted this post to be a bit of a catch up as I’ve had the most exciting and most busy summer ever! And as summer is somewhat over and out for another year, and as I've been MIA on the blogging front lately, I thought today was a good a time as ever to chat about all the goings on of the past couple of months.
So let’s start with BEFORE New York shall we 🙊 Jimmy's Liverpool launched for my darling George and his family. The launch nights were incredible and so much fun and it’s been going so so well ever since. I’m so insanely proud of them all and the rock & roll world they’ve created and I’m so excited for bigger and better things for Jimmy’s Manchester too, which unfortunately is moving from its original spot due to that age ole tale of landlords closing down independent music venues in favour of offices... but fear not, I know that what’s to come is going to be bigger and better before 😉 watch this space and if you're in the Liverpool area you simply MUST check out the all new bar.

On the same day that Jimmy’s Liverpool opened I passed my driving test FINALLY!
After failing my test 7 years ago before getting a job in London and thinking “hurrah that means I don’t ~need~ to drive” I thought it was about time I locked down that skill once and for all. I did a crash course over 2 weeks which was really great for me as I do lack in confidence so waiting a week for a two hour lesson wasn’t right for me.
I did a mix of 2-4 hour lessons almost every day for 2 weeks and passed first time HURRAH! It was such an incredible feeling to finally pass and to then collect my very own car, however I didn’t expect just how terrifying driving on your own, without the comfort of your instructor and their pedals could be...
It’s been a tricky couple of months whilst I get to grips with driving alone and realising that the occasional stall isn’t the worst thing in the world... but I thought I’d mention it as i've never ever heard of anyone saying how hard it was to confidently drive once you’d passed. So, just in case anyone else is struggling, stick at it. Small drives down the roads you know every day will do the trick... Next stop the motorway arghhhh!

And then of course we got engaged which was the most magical day of my life. I’ll leave this post here for you in case you’d like to hear more about the day I said yes, but we’ve been in a very happy little bubble ever since and are slowly beginning to plot our big day.
Wedding planning feels all kinds of overwhelming currently. There seems to be so many little details and then huge details to think about and it’s all feeling a little on top of me right now. Thankfully George is so great at compartmentalising and also organising things so he’s taken the reins for now, until things quieten down for me work wise and I can focus properly.
We’ve got our date and our location locked in and after a few further logistics are in place we’re on to the exciting parts, dresses, food, flowers and music eeeek!

And then to top everything off, we of course moved house. I’ve had a fair few questions about why we decided to move which I’ll clear up here, but I did mention this in my moving vlog so check that out too if you like.
But basically, I purchased our first home by myself. It was a huge goal for me to independently buy my first home, something I’d dreamt of since I was a little girl and something I’d work hard for, saving as much as I could along the way.
George also had his own property and when I met him I knew more than ever that it was important for me to buy independently too.
Roll forward a couple of years and our “dream home” came up, about 5 years earlier than we’d expected but it was there and we’d have been foolish to let it slip by. We clubbed together and now we have our forever home and it’s all extremely exciting and totally pinch me territory. It’s a beautiful house, like seriously beautiful and is the kind of house I’d only ever dreamt about owning one day. And whilst my first home will forever be my baby, my first step into the property ladder and my first go at interior design and my dream bathroom (gutted to have let that go haha) its all progress and it’s life and it’s exciting and we're so insanely happy. We had all of our friends round at the weekend to give the house a good christening and it was just so fabulous to share our world with our nearest and dearest. I'm SO excited to make memories in this place.

And so there we have a full, proper catch up! I’ve been wanting to do this for quite a while as there have been many many questions, so it feels great to have finally done just that. I’ll be filming a Q&A video this week so do let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll try my best to answer them.
But what’s next? So for the next few months we’re going to be nesting and making our new house a home and no we won’t be painting just yet, there’s absolutely no rush as we have forever to make it ours and we’re considering each and every purchase this time around, something I learnt through doing up our first house.
We’ll also be planning our big day... eeek!
And we have a lovely complimentary holiday coming up which I simply cannot wait for along with some other awesome work trips that I’m excited to bring you along with. We have a christening in the countryside, friends 30th’s and family visiting from overseas, it’s going to be a fun end to a crazy year.
AND finally, I’ll be launching another collection of knitwear and T-Shirts for Saturday By Megan Ellaby which I’m so damn stoked about! Watch this space!

Oh Madelyn <3<3 thank you so much. xx
My love, I feel you on the driving! I’m so nervous to do right turns out of side roads on to busy roads, that sometimes I reroute myself! Lol!! Motorways and bloody parking in cramped car parks are the worst. I’d have to arrive the day before to get over the hurdle of getting there for fear I’d miss an important appointment. I always seem to mess up when another driver is waiting as well. Real life driving is nowhere near the same as learning (when you are instructed go and park in an empty car park) It’s real life fam!!! I’m glad you are sharing this too! But it really does get easier, sometimes I now have one hand on the steering wheel! Confidence levels must be creeping up!
Hi
Thanks for sharing. Your post is always awesome and meaningful.
