I had an idea to shoot our home progress on my Instax camera as I thought it was a nice way of both documenting our new house and the journey of it becoming our home whilst being able to share it with you in a way that doesn't feel too much like "over sharing" if you know what I mean.
Each square of Instax heaven showcases a little corner from a number of rooms within our home that I thought you might be interested in taking a lil nosey at. We were super lucky to move into the house of our dreams, a house that needed very little work doing to it at all. It is beautifully painted white from top to toe which is a nice refresh from the deep tones of our last house. I know that a number of you are keen to know whether we're going to inject the same array of colours into our new home, but for the time being we're enjoying living in our white home with pops of colour scattered throughout through soft furnishings and artwork.
It's been so fun to make this new house feel like a home and to be perfectly honest it's taken a while mainly due to the size of it in comparison to our last home, it just seemed to swallow up the furniture we did have and it's meant investing in a number of new bits along the way.
We've made some rather spendy "forever" purchases with the likes of our beautiful kitchen table (which we bagged in a promotion so got 30% off) and the four divine rattan chairs around it; BUT we've combined those more expensive pieces with thrifty purchases from eBay and antique shops. I can't tell you how much I adore finding beautiful antique furniture on eBay, it's a real passion project of mine and I'd sooner scour the internet looking for the perfect second-hand piece than buy something in a shop. We have a number of beautiful second hand pieces that I'll share with you in a few weeks or so including some tips and tricks for finding exactly what you're after too.
We have some exciting deliveries still to come including a new sofa duo; The first is big and velvet and an incredibly kind gift from Habitat whilst the other is something very different for us but something we fell in love with when we laid eyes on it and we just knew we had to have it in our home as a fun refresh to our living room. Fear not though, our trusty orange velvet made.com sofa's are going to a loving home π
Dark wood combined with lashings of texture through rugs, cushions and throws and an eclectic mix or artwork positioned in every room is the general vibe we're going for right now and it's so nice to know that we'll be here forever more so there really is no need to rush into anything.
I do hope you've enjoyed having a little sneak peek into our new home and I'm so excited for more interior styling content. If there is anything you'd like to see, know or learn more about then please do let me know as I'd love to give you exactly what you want.
x M
P.S as mentioned in my latest video a home interiors instagram is on its way, but I can't decided what to call it so any suggestions please leave them below.
I’d love to see a post dedicated specifically to where you got all your framed artwork from. I’ve lived in my apartment for almost two years now and my walls are still bare. I’m having a hard time finding prints, posters, and artwork that are beautiful, yet affordable. I’ve checked out Desenio but all the prints that I like on there are super-expensive. Plus, it doesn’t help that I live in Canada and shipping here is usually quite pricey.
I have a couple of pieces as part of my gallery wall that were actually fashion ads I found in magazines which I carefully pulled out and placed on IKEA frames. A perfect fit if you’re on a budget.
Thats a lovely idea π
I’ve actually done this post already when I was in my old house but I think you might still find it useful; http://www.meganellaby.com/2019/07/artwork-what-to-look-for-where-to-buy/ Hope thats okay π x
I’d like to know how you know what prints to hang where! I’ve loads of family photos and recently bought posters and prints but unsure how to showcase them without it looking like a gallery! Any suggestions would be appreciated! X
Ahhh thats a great idea for a post! Thank you π I have actually already shot the imagery for this style of post so will work to include your question into that post π Thanks lovely x
As always I absolutely love looking at your interior style. Quick question though, what’s happened to or is happening with the neon you guys had made, is it going to be brought to the new place? Also I am so in love with those chairs in your kitchen. Wish I could find some on my budget. I think the interior insta has to have the words thrifty and colourful in it. Hope this helps.
Ava hi π Ahhh great question. It’s going to be brought into our new place but as we had it wired into our old home we need to get someone in to carefully disconnect it and then bring it to our new place. It’s on our to-do list for sure π
xx
Your new home loves beautiful- could you remind me where you bought your green metal cupboard? Thank you x
Ohhh thanks lovely lady.
It’s from https://mustardmade.com/ x
I love everything you’ve done thus far. As amazing as the last house was I find darker colours on the walls have a tendency to kill the light so completely understand why you’re not in any hurry to make drastic changes this time round.
I also love the way you’ve integrated the furniture from your last place into the new home e.g. the placement of the Vogue print makes the whole space pop!
I also forgot to comment on the last post- Rime Arodaky and Hermione De Paula. They are two of my favourite wedding dress designers and maybe worth a look?
Love you lots xox
Ohh Sarah thanks so much for your lovely comment. It’s been so fun incorporating the newer pieces with the older pieces from our last home π xx
Your new home looks absolutely beautiful Meg, thank you for letting us have a peek! I totally appreciate you want to keep some of it to yourselves.
Iβd love to see a post / video about your interior inspo – what platforms or hard copy you use to help you collect your thoughts and make your choices!
And I am BUZZING about the home insta! Iβll 100% be your first follower haha! Mine is called @DesperateHousebuys because I love Desperate Housewives! How about something to do with the history of the area you live orrrr something to do with The Craigβs?
Take care Megan!

Hi, love this post and the new house. What Polaroid camera do you use to take these pictures? π x
Loving all the artwork in the new house – it looks amazing already! I totally think you should name your home account @apopofcolour after your jumper and love of all things colourful π x
Thats so kind of you, thanks babe x
Oooh Megan I really love both this and your previous homes!! I am on the hunt for a whole-body mirror like your black one I saw on Instagram, wheres is that from?
