When I say I’m the happiest I’ve ever been I really do mean it.
The past few months have been the busiest of my life yet the most fulfilling and happiest to boot. I’m truly feeling like the best version of myself and totally excited for more of it.
A summer filled with some of the best moments of my life and with the upcoming excitement of moving house (yep, it’s happening) and planning a wedding I simply cannot wait for what’s to come! Happiness is something that comes and goes and I should know, particularly after a rocky year or so during 2018 and the beginning of this year where my mental space was the lowest it’s ever been, it’s nice to be on the up, for now at least.
With a wedding to plan I’ve been thinking a lot about the women in my life lately. The women who are closest to me and also the women who I don’t even know yet who inspire me on the regular. That may be through their music, their style or the way they present themselves to the world, they’re women who really, truly inspire me to work harder, be kinder and strive for my own kind of happiness. I wanted to share those women with you today in the hope that you will share yours with me. It’s always nice to champion women doing amazing things however big or small and I’d love to add more to my ever growing list of fabulous women!

So first up I have to start with the women closest to me. My mum and my sister Faye.
My mum is the most compassionate, caring and hardworking woman I have ever met. She’s truly beautiful both inside and out and she inspires me daily to work hard to create the world I want to live in. She works full time and has her beautiful side hustle too, with her hand-made wall hanging business Pinfold Creations which you should TOTALLY check out asap! I don’t know anyone who works as hard as my mum but also who does life really bloody well too. Living for the weekends where she fills them with wine-fuelled fun with my dad, double dating with friends or pottering at home with her grandchildren, our dogs Peter and Nancy, she is my biggest inspiration, my biggest driving force and my best friend.
And as for Faye, well she’s a super star. Another best pal of mine and also someone I’m lucky to work with every day. It can often be tough working with someone so close to you but I’m pleased to say that being together almost every day has only brought us closer together. I can’t imagine doing this without her now and I’m so grateful for her creative eye, her passion and her knowledge (particularly with anything numbers based) she’s a good egg and I’m excited to see where we both go together.

My oldest friend Lennie (yep, the Saturday By Megan Ellaby Lennie tee was named after her) is another woman who inspires me every single day. Living in Bristol we don’t see each other even half as much as we’d like to but when we can get together it’s as if no time has passed at all. Things with Lennie are always the same as they’ve always been, even the same as when we were just 4 years old, only now with the trials and tribulations of adult life.
Trials and tribulations Lennie has had by the shed load lately, along with working a long and hard job at the Zoo (yep, my bestie is a zoo keeper how cool is that!) yet Lennie takes everything in her stride, her positivity is inspirational and her keep calm and carry on attitude is commendable. She’s the strongest woman I’ve ever met and she astonishes and inspires me every single day.

Now we have Dusty Springfield a woman I was never lucky enough to meet (duh) but feel some kind of connection with nonetheless.
Dusty Springfield is my favourite artist of all time. I’ve never connected to an artist in the way I have Dusty, even way back when I was first introduced to her by my dad, I felt deeply connected to her, her music and her story.
Dusty has the most incredible voice ever, it’s soulful and real and just totally beautiful! However, Dusty didn’t hear it, she didn’t believe it, she lived a life dictated by imposter syndrome and that’s why I can relate to Dusty so well. She didn’t believe in her own magic. The way I can often don’t believe in my own.
Dusty would choose to go into the sound booth to record her vocals without headphones as she didn’t want to hear herself sing as she didn’t like the sound of her own voice. Yet that voice inspired millions of people and sold millions of records, that kind of insecurity is something I can relate to, on a level; It’s something that inspires me as although she didn’t truly believe in herself, she didn’t let those insecurities completely run the show, she carried on regardless and became the voice of an era and to me.

From Dusty Springfield to Miley Cyrus, what a seamless link hey.
Well yeah, Miley Cyrus is someone that I’m finding insanely inspiring right now, despite me sometimes finding her a tad OTT...
I’ve always enjoyed her pop classics but never been a huge Miley fan, until earlier this year when Faye and I caught her live at Primavera festival. She was absolutely unreal and thus the obsession was born.
I love her latest EP but what I really love and admire is her attitude that is unapologetically herself! Whilst at times she makes me feel a little prudish, I still admire how open she is with her sexuality and her lifestyle as a whole. She’s a young girl who’s grown up in the spotlight, something I couldn’t even comprehend. To have your entire life scrutinised and every decision you make publicised must be so difficult but I think she is now dealing with it amazingly.
The statement she made when her relationship with Liam Hemsworth came to an end, was honest, open and real and I truly admired her for that.

And then when it comes to style and for again being completely themselves I truly admire both Alexa Chung (you saw that one coming didn’t you) and Rabea Schif, two ladies killing it in the style stakes, in their careers and just generally life, but two ladies who do it all with humour, I truly, truly love and admire that.
Of course there are thousands of ladies doing incredible things for different causes and in many different ways and I feel I could write a book on the women who inspire me every single day but alas I thought we'd keep things nice and chilled for today with just a handful of incredible women.

And so there we have it, some amazing ladies making waves in their own worlds and inspiring me along the way. I'd love to hear about the ladies in your life that inspire you every day, it's always nice to add to the ever growing list of girl love.
And there we also have what could be the last summer-esque look of the season, although September has been known to be rather fabulous on the weather front so who knows ey. This look was from a month or so back and a look that I bloody loved wearing, it's feminine with masculine touches and a nod to all things retro. It's a look that made me feel super confident and a look I can't wait to recreate during the colder months but this time with an ankle sock and a thick knit.
Roll on AW19 outfits!
Things may be a little quiet and some what sporadic over here for the next couple of weeks, everything is a little manic right now but I promise I'll be back with a good old life update soon.
Lots of love
