You know that feeling you get when the weather starts to heat up and your thoughts drift to super sunny days and all the exciting plans that you have ahead of you... Well thats how I'm feeling right now. So insanely excited and positive about the future, albeit just a couple of months down the line. My diary is slowly filling up, just the way I like it; Filled of plans with friends, plans with family and work plans too, all of which are giving me that fuzzy fulfilled and insanely happy feeling.
Fuzzy feelings aside, clothing is also something that is giving me the feels right now and making me pine for warmer climates whether they be abroad or here in the UK. Slipping into this co-ord by Sezane was no exception and I just had to have a mini photoshoot at home to share it with you in all it's glory.

BRALET & TROUSERS- c/o SEZANE, SHELL NECKLACE & CHOKER NECKLACE- c/o SEZANE, RING - MISSOMA, BRACELET - MONICA VINADER

And whilst a piece or pieces of this nature are often reserved for holidays in the sun or weddings of those you love, sometimes you've just got to wear your favourite pieces for the more mundane of days. It's so important that we get out of this "saving for best" mentality. Heck, all the clothes we purchase should be considered enough to want to wear every single day and whether it's wearing a midriff baring bralet and complimenting high waisted trousers for lording around your living room or your trusty jeans and T-shirt combination, it's time we just wore what we loved exactly when we fancy it.

So yes, just a quick one from me today to hopefully inspire you to whack out your favourite party dress just because. Throw on those killer heels that you've been saving for the right occasion and just rock them down to the pub, at home or just around the shops, there's no room in our wardrobes for "saving for best" anymore, it's time we really put our wardrobe to work and find ways to style and wear those special/fancy pieces every day.
I'd love to hear about that one special piece that you have in your wardrobe and how you're planning to style it for daywear, just because?

YES YES YES I’m so glad you wrote this! I’ve always been the biggest advocate of not saving up your clothes. Why would you anyway? If you have a killer piece that makes you feel 10/10 when you wear it, wear it any chance you get! Why deny yourself that pleasure… So glad that you’re supporting this opinion as well!
xx Marlena
p.s. your hair looks unreal in these pics!
YES GIRL, SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE AT THE BACK!!!! x
Ahhh you stunner!! Agreed with Marlena’s comment above, your hair looks particularly lush in these shots. I have fancy jumpsuits and dresses I style for the day by layering a t-shirt underneath with some trainers and it works perfectly, and always gets me some compliments which is an added bonus 🙂
Ohhh thats so kind of you, thanks Amy lovely. YES I am all about styling things down with trainers and a layered tshirt, such a genius way to make things more “day time appropriate” x
Yes! Today I woke up with a gnarly cold and put on this very special vintage silk dress to make myself feel better. If we always save clothes for when special occasions or when we feel ‘our best’, we would never wear them. Also I love a good polka dot, red lip combo. Beautiful as always x

WOW that really is testament to a fancy dress hey! Hope you’re feeling better darling x
YES! This post was exactly what I needed to read. I’m saving so many pairs of magnificent boots for nothing. I don’t have any event or night out planned, but I wanna use them all anyways. Thanks for that! You’re always a spark of joy in my day. Love u!
NOOOOOOO don’t save magnificent boots for best, they’re deemed magnificent for a reason and must be worn and seen! Whack em out with a pair of jeans and a Tshirt girlie! x
I love this idea and it’s exactly what I’ve been trying to switch my mindset to lately. I find if I get too into the mentality of saving something for ‘best’, I end up being too scared to ever wear it. It remains totally untouched in my wardrobe despite loving it, and I’m ashamed to say sometimes it stays that way until I no longer love it because my style changes a little or I find something else.
I’ve realised if I don’t ‘break in’ the things I buy, so to speak, they become something I never reach for.
It’s such a waste and I find restricting clothes for just special ocassions stunts my creativity when it comes to dressing myself.
Feeling inspired after reading your post to pull out all those items and get creative with finding multiple ways to wear them so they get the love they deserve!
Oh babes, we’ve all SO been there! I can certainly relate!
So glad you’re feeling inspired to pull out those “fancier” items and style them up or the most mundane of days x
You’re so right Megan, I’m definitely guilty of keeping my favorite clothes for “special occasions”, and then I end up never wearing them! That’s so silly. I definitely feel inspired now to shop my wardrobe more fully, and stop wearing the same things over and over again haha
I’m so glad this post has inspired you to whack our your fancier pieces whenever the heck you like x
I’m writing a blog post at the moment about whether it’s better to be overdressed or underdressed and it mentions that we shouldn’t feel like we can only wear our best outfits on special occasions. Great post! x

Ahhh super interesting, looking forward to reading it! Glad you enjoyed this post babe x
OH MY GOSH, Megan, LOVED this post – I literally wrote about the same mentality on my blog a couple of months back.
I totally agree with you and if you have a spare mo. then you can check it out here:

Have a super duper day lovely,

SO glad you enjoyed the post babe, means a lot. LOVE your post, totally agree with everything you said darlin (tried to comment but the form wouldn’t let me) Also OBSESSED with that colour combination, WOW! x
This is a topic that really resonates with me – I used to save a lot of my favourite outfits for special occasions, but I always ended up wishing I got more wear out of them! Now I wear my favourite clothes no matter what the occasion because they make me feel good and most like myself. Amazing post!
Sydney
Oh Sydney, i am so so soooo glad to hear you say that. I was totally like you, wishing I’d have gotten more wear out of the dressier pieces in my wardrobe, pieces that I love. It’s nice to have had a little realisation moment and to just wear them whenever I like x
