Hello HELLO, Tuesday that feels like a Monday!
How was your bank holiday weekend for those that reside in the UK? I truly hope it was a marvellous one!
After an exciting few days in London I headed to York for the long weekend with George's family and oh what a gorgeous weekend it was. A weekend spent mainly eating delicious food and drinking the best wine whilst catching up with family and friends, now thats what bank holidays are all about AMIRIGHT!?
And then today, Monday, when I'm writing this post after spending the majority of my bank holiday Monday cleaning and filling up our brand new floor to ceiling bookcase that was fitted whilst we were away! I am honestly thrilled to bits with it and am SO excited to get purchasing some more books and vinyls to fill the space and also some trinkets, ornaments and tat (lets be real here) from my fave antique stores to add some interest into the mix. I've dreamt of having a bookcase like this for so long and I can't tell you how amazing it looks in our space, it's completely transformed our dining room, making it feel cosier than ever(!) and just when I thought this house of ours couldn't feel any cosier!
I'll of course update you with a little room tour of the space once it's complete, similarly to my bedroom and living room tours as I know you love seeing them so much. But if you fancy some interior goodness in the meantime then do check out my latest video all about independent and lesser known homeware brands and stores as there are SO many amazing pieces and it was such a fun video to create.
So yes, there's my usual weekly update/waffle, I hope you're all doing bloody well indeed and lets get on with today's post, a look into one of AW18's biggest trends, CHECKS!

Check print in all it's forms has been a huge trend contender for many seasons previous and thankfully, if like me you've invested HARD on the much loved print, you'll be pleased to hear that it's not going anywhere this winter.
In fact, I would say all things check is bigger and better than ever before, so you can dust off last winter's checked coats or even this summer's checked dresses (I'll certainly be keeping out this baby to style up again this autumn) as checks are here in a big way and I for one am really rather excited about it!

This season however, it seems less about your ginghams and more about your tartan checks, your checkerboards and your Prince Of Wales check; think punks combined with Clueless (but cooler) and all things our lovely Queenie would like... Yeah I know, what a mix ey!
Personally I'm looking to Versace who nailed the most INSANE coloured tartan check skirt suit I have ever seen and that I must have in my wardrobe immediately, the perfect cool girl combination or punk meets Clueless don't you think?
And Balenciaga who, at times used check print to create a sophisticated look with an all new and rather structured silhouette but with fun touches of neon and red's scattered within. But who also showed us how to layer check to the nines this AW18, something I'll certainly be taking note of.

However, if you're after something a little less in your face then look to Erdem who delicately combined your Prince of Wales check with the most opulent of jewel tone velvets, showing how your workwear check can be dressed up to create the most magical of party looks.
Whilst over at Stella McCartney things were naturally a little more understated with check two pieces in neutrals and navy's combined with flashes of red, caramel and powder blue, just delicious!

I am of course SO thrilled that our most favourite print is sticking around for at least one more season as it means I can get more outings out of this rather delicious two piece suit by Reserved, style perfectly for this mild(er) weather with a simple grey tee and slip on loafers, however once the weather inevitably turns I'll be pairing with a chunky black boot for those Versace vibes and throwing in a hot pink or orange knit to beat the chill.
So yes, don't go ditching your checks any time soon as this print is here to stay (yay!) but if you're new to the trend then don't worry, the high street is awash with all things check and I'll be sharing my best bits next week with an AW18 trend roundup so do stay tuned for that!
