Hey Y'all and happy nearly weekend!
Have you got anything nice planned? Let me know in the comments what you're getting up to. We don't currently have any plans, which seems to often be the case lately and I'm really loving it as from having nothing planned comes the most fun and spontaneous weekends that usually involve great friends and great wine... Even better if the weather is great too.
We may be heading to a plant workshop to learn how to look after our new brood of house plants that you might have seen over on Instagram stories or my vlog? I sent George out to pick up a few house plants for some new pots that I'd picked up and instead he came back with a whole brood of plants (6 to be precise) one of which is a 9ft Bird Of Paradise... Note to self: never send a man out to buy house plants ahah!
Despite the pots I'd wanted him to fill remaining empty, I'm totally in love with the new monstrous plants he brought home, but we're in need of a little bit of advice on how to ensure they stay with us for life.
So thats a little look into what we might be doing this weekend but today on meganellaby.com I thought I'd share a little look into some goals I plan to achieve this summer.
You lot know I LOVE to set seasonal goals and since we recapped over what I achieved during the winter months (read that post here), it's only right that two weeks later, and now that spring FINALLY seems to be showing it's beautiful face, that we get some new goals in place for the warmer months too.
As often is the case with goals and resolutions, it's been quite hard to think of something a little different to add to my list of goals. Whilst reading, travelling and goals of that ilk will always remain on my list, I've managed to pad out the list a little with some newbies that I hope may inspire your summer goals list too. Please, as usual leave me a note in the comments with your goals as I'd blimming love to hear them!

First up, and as the slogan on my T-shirt may suggest (how awesome is it BTW!? It's by Japanese brand StyleNanda and is the SOFTEST T-shirt I have ever worn!), I would REALLY like to continue on the fitness path that I started down last year. I've slacked a little lot since getting back from the Maldives and although it is to be expected when you take time off from working out, it's been pretty hard to find the motivation and the mojo to get back in there. I LOVE exercising, particularly weight training so I really hope to get my mojo back and develop on my new found strength some more throughout this summer.
Secondly I am going to officially pass my driving test this summer if it kills me!
I've been saying this for many summers now but this is going to be my year for learning to drive! In fact, by the time you're reading this I would have had my very first lesson with PassMeFast, a range of intensive and semi-intensive driving courses that will hopefully have me driving in no time.
I'm desperate for a little more freedom and to not rely on George to drive me around or waiting for Uber's and trams now we live in the suburbs of Manchester. I'm more determined than ever to get driving so lets do this once and for all!
Next up is the dullest thing I've ever written but I must must must get more organised when it comes to my accounts. I say this every year but this time I MEAN IT! I simply HAVE to get better at scanning my receipts as and when they come in rather than saving them in an overflowing drawer and scanning 136728359493648768956 receipts all at once, please tell me I'm not the only self employed boss lady who does this!? This is my job for tomorrow and as you can imagine I am absolutely riveted by the prospect of it. So yes, by winter I want to be well on my way to regularly scanning and filing away my receipts so that April isn't quite so monotonous and DULL as this year and the past three Aprils gone.

Yup, you guessed it I'd love to travel again this summer.
Last year was great for travelling and whilst the majority of it was for work, I had the summer of a lifetime I have to say. I'd love to have a summer of that ilk again this year, perhaps with some downtime thrown in for good measure too. I'm heading to San Fran at the end of May with my dear friend Amy which I am SO excited about as it's been on my travel bucket list for as long as I can remember. I'll also be heading on a work trip to Cannes and a trip to NYC with Gee in August so things are already looking rather fabulous indeed. Throw in a couple of city breaks or some National Trust staycations with the puppies and I will be one happy girl indeed!
Adding to the ever growing bucket list of places I'd love to see are: Kerala- India, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Iceland (but thats always been on the list) and I'd love to see some more of Italy too.
The next goal for summer is semi related to the travelling goal above as since returning from a 10 day break in the Maldives and a 10 day break from work I can't quite express to you how great I feel. I am happy, motivated, inspired and really loving work again, something I'd lost for quite some time. I want to continue on this road of positivity and listen to my head and my body when things aren't quite as they used to be. I hope that listening to myself will allow me to take some time away from day-to-day life, which will in-turn lead me back to positivity and happiness rather than feeling guilty and in-turn working myself into a hole.
I've learnt just how important it is to look after yourself and I am vouching to do this a lot more from here on out.

Next on the list of things to achieve this summer and one thing I am quietly confident I'll achieve is to complete our home renovations. All of the rooms in our house aside from the spare room are now painted exactly how we want them to be and as I mentioned in this post here I just LOVE living in a home full of colour. Once the spare room is done we're going to set to work on getting a new carpet for our stairs and landing which I think will REALLY add a wow factor to our hallway when you walk in. We're also thinking about adding a bit of summin, summin to our all white bathroom and perhaps changing some of the carpeted floors to wooden floors too. And whilst this seems like a LOT of work, we've been saving really hard for this and hope to have our dream home by the time next winter rolls around, wish us luck!
Another goal for the summer months and one very much related to the above goal, is to get green fingers. I'd LOVE to fall in love with gardening and as this is my first time having my own garden to do up I am SO excited to get creative with our small space. It's just essentially a concrete yard but after purchasing some outdoor furniture last week I am SO ready to add some plants and flowers to the space to make it the most gorgeous place for yarden parties aplenty!

And finally I'd really really LOVE to get the wheels in motion on a project I've been thinking a lot about lately. I'd LOVE to add another string to my bow and design a fashion line. Perhaps starting small with T-shirts or maybe even shoes, who knows!? I'd just really like to set to work on designing or at least thinking about what in the world I'd like to do. I'd love to hear if you had any ideas at all? Whether it be the item itself, the vibe in which you'd like it to be? The price point and maybe even the name of the brand. I am all up for your suggestions. HOW FREAKING EXCITING is that! Dream big honeys, dream big!

And there we have some of the things I'd love to achieve this summer time. Some big, some small but all very exciting indeed! I am SO ready and SO excited for some warmth here in the UK and the positivity and sheer happiness it brings to people! Roll on SS18 ey!? And I look forward to chatting with you down in the comments.
Lots of love
x M

Oh my gaaaddd I would be so thrilled if you would to a fashion line! A t-shirt or shoe collection sounds awesome, but I think an accessory line could be so cool too! You always wear so many quirky pieces of jewellery and sunglasses, I can only imagine how many unique and awesome pieces you would design yourself!
xx
YAY Marlena so glad to have you on board with this! xo

Oh fantastic! Thanks so much, I think we need to go for it now, we met so many natives of Kerala when in the Maldives and they completely sold it to us, we MUST get there some day! xo
Hi Megan! I always enjoy reading your blog and watching your videos:) It’s a smaaaall thing, but I just couldn’t help notice, StyleNanda is not a Japanese brand. (It’s Korean.) I got excited to see a word “Japanese” in the post (as I am Japanese). Thanks for always bringing up a great&colorful style, you’ve inspired me a lot to wear something colorful;)
Oh bother, so sorry for getting it wrong! I will change it now, thank you so much!
I’m SO glad you enjoyed the post and that you’re wearing lots of colour… YAY! x
some band t shirt inspired t shirts would be fab, thin cotton like the top you’re wearing in this post!
Also, a shoe line would be amazing – kat Maconie vibes (but around the £50 mark!)
LOVE IT YAAAAS!
Ahh I’ve been a huge fan of yours for a couple of months now, and the idea of you designing a fashion line that perfectly reflects your own unique style really excites me! What I love about your outfits is that they are creative and funky without having to be overly expensive, so I think keeping that accessibility in your own fashion line would be a good idea (and obviously because I will want to buy every single item). Although t-shirts are a good start, if I’m honest I think you can already create much more creatively challenging items such as shoes and perhaps even alternatives to denim trousers as so many of us struggle with mixing things up. Super excited for what’s about to come, good luck with your new goals!
Ahhh Annika thanks so much for the seriously great feedback! I truly truly appreciate it.
Lots of love girlie xo
You have such a unique, powerful, creative style, there’s no doubt anything you create will be just as unique, powerful, creative and stylish! Knowing how hard-working and thoughtful you are about your work, I know you’ll put great care and attention to details in the clothes you make and will mind the ethics that come with any enterprise, especially a fashion-related one! Don’t put to much pressure on yourself and trust your instincts, I’m certain it’ll be worth the wait 🙂
Ohhh wow Madeline, stop it you’re going to make me cry!
Thank you darling xo
A fashion line would be an amazing venture for you Megan!!
YAY <3
I would LOVE a t-shirt range! Slogans, patterns, logos… I’m already excited!!! x
HAHA YAAAS GAL! xo
Yesss, to the designing goal I´d love to get my hands on something you design!
Also, I´m a Mexican gal who lived in London for over three years and would love to show you my city (Mexico City) or give you tips about my country, let me know when you tick Mexico off your travel bucket list so i can help you in making it a truly memorable trip. xx
Ohhhh how exciting, thanks gorgoeus gal!
Ahhh thanks babe, I sure know who I’ll be coming to for those Mexico tips, thank you! xo
Yay yay yay for a t-shirt collection ! ??
Don’t forget international shipping – I live in France ?xx
AHA OF COURSE 😉
Hi Megan!
I can’t wait to see what you come up with in the future! I’m pretty sure I’d love everything 🙂 Big yes for shoes and clothes in particular (especially clothes), but even accessories (like sunglasses or bags) would be awesome. I know that if you ever create your line or brand, it will be 1000% you and we won’t be disappointed. For the brand, it would be super badass to call it Ellaby and have a big bee in the background or something like that haha a classy 80’s logo like the one you have for the blog!
Lots of love ! <3
