Hey you lovely bunch, I hope you all had a really lovely weekend! I know I did, it felt like the first spring weekend here in Manchester, so much so that I even went out in JUST A T-SHIRT!!!!
Despite it getting a bit nippy towards the end of the day and having to borrow my dads cardigan, it was lovely to feel even just the slightest bit of British sunshine on my skin. And in true British fashion we headed straight to our local bar with a garden for a good 5 hours and a good 6 Gin & Tonics, perfection!
I am also writing this from my all new office, FINALLY I have the office of my dreams and I am SO freaking excited to share a little tour of it on here and possibly on my YouTube channel too if you're keen? It's taken me a while to know exactly what I wanted to do with it but I am SO glad I waited almost 6 months to give it a lick of paint as I really feel the space is perfect; it reflects my personality, my job and most importantly my love of colour!
I woke up super early this morning as I was itching to get in my all new, brightly coloured office and set to work, something I haven't done in bloody ages due to lack of inspiration and motivation, not to mention my office previously being the most boring and uninspiring room ever. But alas, here I am in my room that has been lovingly painted in the shade "Cheeky Felicia" a divine salmon pink meets coral colour and it instantly makes me happy whenever I step foot in here. With lashings of green from the jungle of plants I have in here too it's become my little tropical oasis away from the Maldives and I simply couldn't be happier or more pumped to get on with some work!
My office isn't the only room that got some love this weekend; our living room took a dramatic turn on Friday when it was painted in the most GORGEOUS dark grey come navy shade and my goodness is it the perfect colour for the space. Our living room has always been my favourite room in the house due to it's lashing of natural light and of course the orange velvet sofa's of my dreams(!) but, with a coat or two of Farrow & Ball's "Railings", the room has been transformed into the cosiest most beautiful living room I've ever stepped foot in, if I do say so myself.
It's amazing what a little bit of colour can do for you ey!?

It is certainly no secret that I love myself a bit of colour!
I'm always rabbiting on about how much I love colour and what a buzz a touch of colour can give to me and my mood. But I have to say that since we began transforming our home it has only worked to amplify this love for all things colourful even more... Who'd have thought that was even possible!?
Our home started off completely white washed, each and every single room was white from floor to ceiling and I was convinced I wanted to keep it that way. To live in a versatile world that could be updated regularly through artful arrangements, furniture and of course my beloved soft furnishings... Oh how wrong I was. White is alright, but it certainly wasn't for us.
And now, we only have one room (our spare room) and two bathrooms that are painted in the boring hue, for now at least.
Waking up in a room painted blue, making a coffee in a kitchen painted orange and working from an office painted pink is all I need to set me up for the day, it's utterly incredible what a touch of colour can do for your mood.
I'm a firm believer in colour psychology and how different colours can affect your mood; less so in the whole "red means danger, anger or blood" thang and more in that colours are personal, they remind us of past experiences that are rooted within us, or they can be connected to cultures and traditions, it's a fascinating thing and something I'm researching more and more into every single day.

CARDIGAN- c/o LAZY OAF, JEANS- & OTHER STORIES, BAG- c/o HILL & FRIENDS, SOCKS- TOPSHOP, TRAINERS- c/o CHARLOTTE OLYMPIA

So not only are we turning our home into a multi-coloured dream, but I am OF COURSE adding yet more colour into my wardrobe ready for spring. One of the latest additions is this totally gorgeous fluffy cardigan by Lazy Oaf, isn't it just fabulous!
There's something extremely nostalgic about this piece for me and it totally reminds me of something Sabrina from Sabrina The Teenage Witch would wear with it's deep V and cropped shape, do you know what I mean?
But of course, this baby comes in rainbow stripes, something I seem to gravitate towards lately for reasons unbeknownst to me, it would appear that I am regressing back to my childlike ways, but it's something I am loving nonetheless. This cardigan is the softest little thing in my wardrobe and I'm wearing it at any given opportunity either as I am here as a top with high waisted jeans (the best jeans I've picked up in a while FYI) or over a plain white tee as an extra layer this spring, it's proving to be a rather versatile piece indeed.

I thought I'd really up the child like, novelty ante with some pink accessories ('cause why the hell not?!) some pink glitter socks (naturally) and my favourite trainers in all the land, the lip toe plimsoles by Charlotte Olympia... HOW DIVINE ARE THEY!? They're currently pinching like a little bitch (hense the pink glitter socks, both style and substance hey!) but I love them all the same!
Bright colours and novelty accessories are just two things that instantly lift my mood, bringing sheer joy, happiness and inspiration into my life. It's often all about the small things in life and being able to recognise those things that make us happy, in my case it is simply colour! But hey, if you're more of a monochrome kinda gal then thats okay too, you just gotta do you and find happiness wherever you can, white room or salmon pink room you know!?

And with that, here are some of my fave Instagram accounts for both colour filled wardrobes and colour filled homes, 'cause us colour loving babes gotta stick together aha! As always, any colour recomendations of your own please send them my way!

As always, so beautifully written Megan! It’s amazing how spring and sunshine give us so much inspiration and fun for reworking our style and going back to the things we love that we might have lost a bit during grey and gloomy winter.
