HAPPY NEW WEEK!
As always, I really hope you had a gorgeous weekend, mine was v spontaneous, which are often the best kind of weekend's AMIRIGHT!? A weekend with no real plans or aims but a weekend that is filled to the brim with fun and love! I truly hope yours was too, no matter how action packed it may or may not have been.
A weekend such as this, filled with spontaneity and good, good times, got me thinking some more about those small things in life. The little things that make a big difference to your day, the things that often go unnoticed and unmentioned but if we really, truly think about it, without them, things would be pretty damn crap indeed.
I've been thinking more and more about those small things that really bring joy to my life a lot lately; trying to work out what makes me truly happy and eject anything or anyone that doesn't from my life as a matter of urgency, 'cause ain't nobody got time for that!
So with that, I thought I'd share them with you; firstly to see if your small things are the same/similar to my small things, but also in the hope that it makes you realise just how wonderful life can be. Even in January, when we're all a little lost, down in the dumps and down right bored of the ever grey skies, perhaps this post will bring a little bit of joy into your day.
Please, as always leave me your small things that make a huge difference to your vibe in the comments, as I'd love to compare and contrast and to hopefully notice a little more beauty in the unremarkable every day.

1- The Smell Of Coffee In a Morning
Is there anything better? I'm sure even if you don't drink coffee, that you can't possibly argue that it smells pretty damn good first thing in the morning. It's the kind of aroma that truly sets me up for the day and sets my taste buds a tingling. One of the even smaller things in life is particularly on a morning, when you're still in bed, all tired eyed and with bed hair and you can hear the coffee machine whirring downstairs. Shortly after your fave human greets you in bed with a cup of hot coffee, now thats my idea of a heavenly morning and one of those small things that I never, ever take for granted!
2- Being Greeted By a Puppy
There really is nothing like returning home after a tiring day at work and being greeted by excitable dogs, or in my case puppies. Their unconditional love and excitement when they hear the key go in the lock is utterly heart warming and there really is nothing else better in the world.
3- Music
I'm obsessed with music and there isn't a single day that goes by where I don't listen to some sort of music. It's the fuel I need for a productive day, a powerful work out session, a good cry, a celebration or a pamper night in the bath, theres a track for absolutely everything and I simply love that. I can't imagine and don't ever want to imagine a world without music, a world where a certain song can compliment or change your mood entirely, a world where a song doesn't transport you back to a certain time, music is just the one!

4- Finding That Missing Sock
Something I'm sure we can ALL relate to, but is there really a better feeling than when those missing socks that you thought were gone forever, FINALLY turn up and each sock is happy and bundled up with it's partner? I think not.
5- Grabbing a Bargain
Bargains are always mini wins, but nothing beats the feeling of getting to the till, smug with your latest find, only to learn that it's actually discounted further! It's a rare occurrence but my goodness, when it happens I practically waltz out of the store.
6- One On One Time
I love going out as a group, whether thats with all the family or with a group of friends. I love the vibe of being surrounded by people who love each other, that I can be myself around and have a bloody good knees up with. But sometimes and unfortunately it really is only sometimes, it's the one on one moments that mean the most. I spent a full day alone with my mum last week and I cannot tell you how much I loved it, even if we were sat in the car for half of the day. Just being with her, catching up and putting the world to rights, just the two of us was sheer bliss and not something that hasn't happened a lot lately. Even with George, we spend so much time hosting at ours or hanging with friends and family, not to mention training the puppies, that it's so special when we do have some time for just the two of us. It's a beautiful and special thing that has really been highlighted to me lately and something I'm going to make more time for starting now.

7- Binge Watching a Series
I'm sure many couples or flat mates have the same nightly battle as we do; "What shall we watch tonight?" The annoying conversation and the endless scrolling through the TV guide, Netflix, Amazon Prime etc that leaves you settling for something pretty damn terrible 'cause you've panic picked after spending a good portion of your evening on the search for the perfect flick or series.
Due to this, I've found a new small thing; the utter magical moment when you find a series you both LOVE and set to work binge watching at once! A few faves that I've enjoyed binging on recently and that I would absolutely recommend you all to watch immediately are How To Get Away With Murder, The End Of The F*****G World and Dark Please let me know if you have any others.
8- Plug Sockets
I mentioned this on Twitter last week and SO many of you completely agreed, but my goodness how good it feels when a hotel room has a plug socket by each bed side! Such a menial thing, but it's only when you don't have a plug socket by your bedside that you realise just how special those small things really are.
9- A Feel Good Outfit
Such as the one I'm wearing here today. It's an outfit that draws attention with it's clashing prints, colours and statement accessories, but an outfit that is fun, playful and an outfit that makes people smile. It's a feel good outfit, the kind of look that I can rely on to brighten my mood and add a spring to my step. It's an outfit for me and nobody else; dressing for yourself is a beautiful thing.
10- Aching After a Work Out
This is a very new small thing to me but my goodness does it feel good to ache the day after a work out. I'm certainly new to this whole working out lark but that little ache I feel the morning after, or the pull in my arms I feel when I pick up the puppies is a sure fired way to make me feel good, and also less guilty about the pizza I'm planning on having for tea.

11- Perfectly Poached Eggs
Something I've quite literally just experienced whilst writing this post in Evelyns Cafe Bar in Manchester, a place I'm now renaming as "the home of the perfect poached egg" honestly, it was like no other poached egg I've ever had and it certainly made me feel all warm inside. Evelyns, I will be back!
12- Not Missing A Delivery
Is there anything more frustrating than missing a delivery; finding that "Missed Parcel" slip on your doormat and having the faff of collecting it from the depot or rescheduling another delivery. Well, the other day I'd just arrived home, hadn't even taken my coat nor my shoes off and there was a knock at the door. I opened it to find my favourite UPS man standing there with parcels in hand. Perfect timing some may call it, I call it a small win!
13- Smiles From Strangers
I've had this a few times in the last week or two but it honestly never, ever gets old! I simply don't need to say anything more other than how heart warming it is when a complete stranger smiles a huge happy smile in my direction, smiling back never felt so good.
14- That First Sip Of Wine on a Friday Night
Or any other form of "treat yo'self" beverage, it's a real ahhhhh moment thats for sure.
15- Finishing A Book
It probably happens once every few months, but yeah, that feeling of accomplishment when you turn the last page of a book, well it's certainly a special one!

HAT- ASOS, DRESS- E.L.K, COAT- LAZY OAF, BOOTS- STELLA MCCARTNEY, BAG- c/o MCM
And there we have it, 15 small yet totally wonderful things that brighten up my day and I hope will now brighten yours whenever you experience them. Check out this post from last year for another post about the small things in life, all of which are very much still true.
As mentioned above, please do leave your small things in the comments, I can't tell you how much I love chatting with you and learning about you all. And with that, I'm off, dreaming of the poached eggs I've just consumed and praying someone smiles to me in the street on my way home.
See ya on Thursday.
x M

Oh my, what a KILLER outfit, Megan!!!
I agree with all of your points but specially two of them:
1. The smell of coffee is the absolute best, and so is its taste. Unfortunately, it makes me too anxious so I’ve recently had to change to decaffeinated (I can’t believe I’m typing this!) butI can’t just give it up!
6. I resonate so much with this, I love spending time with my mum and telling her all about my life and she telling me about hers, specially now that I moved out of the nest! Good thing is we now always have a lot of things to tell each other when we meet!
Lovely post as always, Lara xx
Mum time is always the best time, I’m having some mum and sister time this evening and I can’t bloody wait!
Thanks for reading LAra and for sharing xo
Fresh sheets on the bed ?
OMG YES!!! JUST DIVINE!!!!
Especially with freshly shaven legs!
Also for binge watching a series, one that no one seems to have watched but is the BEST mini series ever!! Harpers Island!
Love love love this post Megan! I couldn’t agree more about the smell of coffee in the morning, omg it’s just the best!! And the first sip of wine after a week of work! I love appreciating the small things in life! xx

Isn’t it just the best smell ever! So glad you enjoyed this post Frances xoxox
I loved this and I love reflecting on the small things that bring me so much joy!
1) One of my ultimate favourites is that I’m extremely broody (??) and my older sister has the cutest baby boy ever and is pregnant again with a baby girl. Cuddles from my nephew is my favourite thing ever and makes me so excited for the future for little ones of me and my boyfriend running around.
2) although I’m not a coffee person (forgive me) laying in bed with a cuppa, with my best mate/love of my life even if it’s complete silence or just cuddling the morning away makes me feel completely content.
3) dancing like nobody is watching to your favourite music. Honestly the best.
Sorry the essay!! ? keep killing it in 2018, I just know this is your year. Wishing you endless happiness. x
AHA I’m broody too! i don’t have any babies in my life currently (you’re SO lucky) but I do have my puppies ahahah (crazy dog lady alert)
Thank you darling, for sharing your beautiful small things. Lots of love x
Firstly I have to say, I adore everything about your outfit, looks amazing! Secondly, what a fab post. I’m nodding my head in agreement over most of your points. Number 2 is my fave. If everybody was as excitable and enthusiastic and as loving as a dog the world would be unreal! Being over enthusiastically greeted by a dog never ever gets old. I write a little post like this every week, called Wonderful Wednesday, it was a lovely friend who started it and there is a little bunch of us who join in. You can see my latest here https://theperfecthidingplace.blogspot.co.uk/2018/01/wonderful-wednesday-67.html, or join in with our hashtag #WonderfulWednesday listing and sharing the little joys in life sure does keep that smile on my face.
Ohhhh Jo, I’m so glad you agree with my points and that you enjoyed the post, thank you!
Oooo Wonderful Wednesday, that is beautiful! I will be sure to check it out x
YES gal, I love this! It’s so damn important to appreciate the little things in life. Also I am seriously swooning over those shoes! xx
Thanks gorgeous girl x
Such an uplifting post!
My favourite little things:
1) Coffee. I’m so with you on this one. The thought of coffee is literally what gets me to wake up in the morning.
2) Long breakfasts.
3) Pretty stationary.
4) Coffee table books.
5) Awesome quotes.
6) Finding an outfit that is just really ‘you’.
7) Managing to get up early in the morning (an actual achievement when you’re a notorious night owl).
8) The smell of spring in the air.
Thanks for reminding us to enjoy the little things. xx
Ohhh Marlena beautiful!!! Thanks so much for sharing your small things <3
Hi megan!
First of all, I need to tell you, you’re an amazing and inspiring person. I’m from Chile and I always watch your videos and read your blog, not just because I think you have and incredible style, but also because you transmit joy and commitment in the things you do.
Relative to the post, I agree with most of the little things you expose, especially with music and the smell of coffee. For my part, I need to mention the smell of a new book (just divine!), and that precious moment when one of your favorites bands release a new album and you have the chance to hear it for the first time.
Greetings from the south of Chile!
WOW thank you Nicole you little sweetie, so glad you’re enjoying what i put out there.
YES the smell of a new book is just the best! Simply divine!!!!! x
Hi Megan! I just wanted to say how much I’m loving your blog, I recently started reading your posts and you are such an inspiration! Your style encourages me to step out of my comfort zone and your down to earth approach is so refreshing and relatable.
Number 13 is my favourite, there’s nothing better than catching a smile from a stranger and realising the world is a much bigger place than just your day to day little bubble! X
Hey Lauren, thanks so much for the gorgeous words, that is SO kind and means the world!
Smiles from strangers, oh yes just the best! x
Hey Megan!
I absolutely looove your blog and Youtube channel! You are such an inspiration! So much energy, happiness, it’s so good to see! Plus, I’m absolutely in love with Manchester. I’m French and had the opportunity to study there for one year, it was honestly pure magic. And it’s thanks to people like you that I love this city so much. So a huge thank you for sharing your life, outfits, tips, and everything else with us!
Regarding the series, I would recommand La Casa de Papel on Netflix, it’s really good! Otherwise Peaky Blinders is amazing as well. Erm… Maybe The Get Down, as you love music! Last but not least, Black Mirror.
Charlotte xx
Ohhh Charlotte thank you my lovely, that is so so kind!
WOW i’m thrilled you loved Manchester so much, thats so amazing to hear!
YES to Peaky Blinders and The Get Down, absolutely freaking loved those shows! x
Hi Megan,
Please let me start by saying how much your blogs and you as a person have become a HUGE influence on me over the past year. I wasn’t at my best place in life over the past couple of months but everything from your blog posts to vlogs, have truly inspired me and been my driving force. I LOVE how your blog post are personal, real, and at the same time aesthetically pleasing.
Referring to the topic at hand, my top favorite small things in life would be singing and dancing along to my favorite songs whenever I’m alone at home without having a care in the world. And the other thing would be jumping into a bed with clean bedsheets after a long week.
Suzin
P.S: Please don’t ever stop doing what you’re doing. xx
Ohhhh Suzin, wow thats so gorgeous to hear, thank you. I’m so sorry that you’ve not been in a great place lately, but happy to hear that you’re getting there. Thank you SO much for the kind words about my blog, it truly means sosos much!
HELL YES to dancing to your fave songs when home alone, that is food for the soul!!!! x
Hi Megan! So true about music and though I don’t drink coffee, the smell of coffee is something wonderful! I can relate to the part about coming home to excited puppies <3 it's one of the best feelings in the world!! As for me, the small things that make a difference would be working on my blog. I run a travel blog for music lovers, and it's fun to share my music recommendations and travel guides. Also, reading a good book & writing. And ofc music!! <3
Glad you can relate to the smell of coffee despite not drinking it, such a delish smell. Ahhh babe thats so so lovely, I’m so glad your small thing is working on your blog, thats gorgeous x
Yes. I wonder if there are candles that smell like coffee. I would totes buy that candle scent haha! Thank you <3
Seeing a new leaf or bud on my house plants always makes me happy!
Holly x
OMG YES!!! YES YES YES!
I’ll post later hun as just getting ready to finally go to Jimmy’s but you need to watch Trust on FOX when it starts at the end of March. 10 episodes of the Getty family kidnap saga. Xx
You look like a cartoon or comics character in this outfit, and I mean it in the nicer way possible hahah
Also I love the location the photos were taken at!
Little things I enjoy:
– having tea in the morning. It’s a little “ritual” and makes me think and appreciate more my mornings
– having a shower. Again, it’s a ritual thing for me, and so it relaxes me even more
– my cat!! He’s a little rascal, but we love each other.
– listening to music I had forgotten about
– reading while listening to music
– doing my makeup (it actually helps me to calm down my anxiety)
– cacio e pepe pasta, the best pasta, you have to tried if you haven’t already
Uggh I find missing parcels so annoying too! Once my dad had to literally chase the postman hahah
HAHA I’ll take it! Thanks hun.
Thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous small things in life! I LOVE the one about listening to music you’d forgotten about, that is SUCH a gorgeous moment x
Being greeted by a puppy is just the best feeling – it definitely never gets old! I laaarv having someone who’s just SO happy to see you
Polly | http://www.pollymaisiexo.com
YAAAAS! It’s just the best thing in the world x
Hi baby Megan! Still here, reading your blog post. Kinda obsessed with your photos, and your rainbow clothes.
I’ve always appreciate the small things, like sun light from early mornings through the window, the smell of grass when raining, cup of tea and a piece of chocolate, the moment when I’m cleaning my room and I find old photos like from the 90’s and spend 2 hours looking at them and not cleaning my room(LOL it happens pretty often), the smell of REALLY OLD BOOKS, I particulary love this.
But recently, as I am on the other side of the world (Argentina), and it’s summer here, I realized how much I love going to the beach, the sound of the ocean, my feet touching the cold water, the sand, the warmth of the sun on my skin, salty hair.
But a very “small thing moment” for me is, when my boyfriend comes home at night (cause we dont live together) and we drink a cup of tea and listen to music and talk about what we did on that day. It’s such a nice moment, he also loves it.
And last, spending little moments with my fam is priceless. I feel such a joy when my little cousins come running and yelling ” do you wanna watch Harry Potter???” (nerd alert: i’ve made them huge fans too). I love when my grandma tells me stories about her younger days. When I go to the movies with my other grandma (so lucky to still have both).
I dont know, there are so many special little moments I wouldnt be able to count them all.
loved this post so much <3
XO, Mech
I’ve read other comments, and I pretty much agree with all of them. I would also add: going to concerts and singing out loud your favorite song from that band, just perfect.
YES YES YES LOVE THEM!
Ohhh Mech thank you so much for your absolutely gorgeous comment! WOW. Its so lovely to hear your small things in life and I found myself nodding along and smiling.
I particularly loved and can SO relate to the “tidying room” and finding photographs part, I LOVE it when that happens!
Such a gorgeous, very particular small thing but you’re SO right! x
Girl I feel you with the one on one time. Keir and I always have people over at the house, and if we’re not doing that, one of us is usually working or out or just plain busy, so when we get a few extra moments alone just for us, it’s so special. My alarm went off this morning and I just turned it off and put my head straight back down for a spoon! I always ask myself if I died tomorrow (hopefully not though pls), would I rather have spent 15 extra minutes with the person I love, or 15 extra minutes wading through my flagged emails. It’s an easy choice *shrugging lady emoji*. Loved this post as per queen x
Ahhhh yes I’m so glad you can relate babe! And I’m LOVING the whole “if I died tomorrow” thing, that is such a great way of looking at it as I’m always the one sneaking off out of bed to my office at 6am, rather than revelling in cuddle time. NOTE TO SELF: MORE CUDDLES!
Thank you darling xo
Love this outfit! Anything with leopard print is a win with me. Alsoooo I cannot wait to buy a house so I can get a dog that will greet me with excitement! xx
Ahhh thanks babe, so glad you like the look!
YES a dogs excitement really is the best thing in the world x
Hi Megan
Happy Feb!!
You look amazing in your pics love this outfit! Loved all your small things and I can totally relate to them all. Small things for me – totally agree with the smell of coffee and for me the first sip of a morning coffee, its amazing!! Also my mum txts me and my sister every morning at the same time before we go to work (we are both older have moved in case you thought I meant from downstairs haha) and that always puts a smile on my face! Lastly spending time with my niece and loving the fact she says im her fave and wants to be just like me when shes bigger – I know that will defo change as she gets older but right now im taking it haha!
xxxx
Thank you lovely. I LOVE that you receive a gorgeous tet from your mamma every day, thats SO truly beautiful! My mum, sister and I are best friends too so I can totally relate to that being so special! x
It’s so important to take time to think about these things. I moved to the country 6 months ago and the small things I now find myself enjoying are so different to those I used to … 1) log burning stove 2) fresh air and taking my wee pup a walk 3) being
Able to leave the house without worrying if i look trendy were the ones that your post made me reflect on, so thanks ?
Ohhhh how gorgeous! I went on a little stay cation to the Lake District this week and yes I can 100% agree that a log burning stove and fresh air are two VERY AMAZING small things in life <3 thanks for sharing gorge x
Beautiful look and beautiful post 🙂 love the dress and the boots 🙂
