If there's anything you lot know about me, aside from the fact I love colour, am a bit of a geek and I am newly obsessed with my puppies; it's that I'm not very good at going "out out".
The aforementioned "bit of a geek" in me is also partly based around the fact that I'm also a bit of a grandma and love being in my own space, at home, with my family. So with that, when this time of year rolls around I more often than not have a mini freak out about what the heck I'm going to wear on that all important festive night out.
Over the years I've gone OTT on the festive sparkle or played it cool in denim similarly to the look in this post here, but sometimes it's nice to find that happy medium; that "out out" look that makes you feel rather special indeed. A look that makes you feel like the best version of yourself, fierce, sexy and most importantly confident!
This look is tried and tested and makes me feel all of the above.
It's a play on my beloved A-Line skirt failsafe combo but this time featuring the most beautiful, sculpting dress by Rixo. Theres something about astrology prints that has me hooked. I gravitate (ho ho ho) towards them over most prints and am a complete sucker for anything star print related in-particular, but I don't need to tell you that now do I?
Rixo is a brand I'm currently obsessed with and have been since the beginning of the summer when I rocked this beautiful little number from the brand, do you remember?
SO many of you were blown away by the brand and their mutual love for print and colour that I simply had to invest in a newbie for the festive season from Net-A-Porter, which IMO has the best selection of Rixo goodies online, a dress that I think you're all going to love just as much as the last.
Not only does the dress feature the much loved astrology print but it's also a play on the eastern styling of a cheonsang dress, another styling element that I've really been into over the past year.
With it's contrast white trim and tie at the waist, it's a truly gorgeous and wonderfully sculpting dress that would suit a variety of beautiful body shapes.
I'm loving how it looks with complimenting silver lurex tights and this teal faux fur cropped jacket- my ultimate party essentials, theres no way I'm freezing on my festive night out, been there, done that... NEVER again eh!?
The teal faux fur cropped coat is set off with the clash of the pink don't you think? I really love how these two colours look next to one another as, you lot know I'm a sucker for a colour clash or two. The pink velvet shoes are by Topshop and I have no doubt in my mind that they will be a dance floor favourite this season, they're just so flipping comfortable. With their chunky platform and heel situation, the cross over front strap and buckled ankle fastening, my feet are going absolutely nowhere, meaning I can hit the dance floor all night long! These babies will also look UNREAL with a pair of frayed-hem light wash denim jeans or a pair of figure flattering leather look trousers for a more understated look.
You know that I love to get my cost-per-wear's down to as minimal as possible so it's a huge bonus that both the shoes and the dress can be worn for different occasions. When selecting the perfect party dress it's essential that it can be styled for day time also and you know that this one is just perfect for styling with a polo neck layered underneath with a pair of black ankle boots for a day of christmas shopping AMIRIGHT!?

What a gorgeous look! I, like you, find it veeery difficult to do the whole “out-out” shebang. If I’m out until 10:30 on Friday night that’s an accomplishment! But I love this outfit because I would unabashedly wear it for day out and not just out-out. I’m not afraid of sparkle and pattern!
