I love Christmas SO much. It’s absolutely no secret, I mean I must have Tweeted, Instagrammed or YouTubed about my love for all things Christmas around 172846839589430534 times already this year, and as you’re reading this it’s only December 19th for crying out loud!
I adore most things about christmas, I always have done. I've always wished Christmas to come back around once Boxing Day has arrived, I mean even just the other day I was thinking ahead to next Christmas, yes, thats right Christmas 2018 WHAT THE HECK!? I love this time of year, I love the happiness, the colours, the lights, the warmth, the family vibes, the food, the wine, the partying, the friends, the smells, the traditions and of course the clothes, I JUST BLOODY LOVE CHRISTMAS! Which reminds me I really should pick up one of those jumpers that state "This Girl Loves Christmas" do you know the ones I mean?
And whilst I've always known I've truly adored Christmas, it's only this year that I've realised a couple of things that I really DO NOT like about the festive season, things I fancy chatting about with you today if thats alreet!?
It’s a little tongue-in-cheek kinda post that I hope you can relate to in some way, shape or form.
The whole online world is not a very nice place right now and I thought we could all do with a something a bit lighthearted and fun, remember folks, tis the season and all that jazz! You lot know I'm a v positive person usually, so please do take all of the below with a little pinch o' salt!

But first up and before we get into the fun stuff, I wanted to address these utterly INSANE photographs taken by Adam Mane, a Manchester based photographer who absolutely blew my little socks off with these shots taken at my second home, Jimmy’s NQ! I’ve always been desperate to shoot at Jimmy’s, the home of the neon light and the best vibes in town and Christmas seemed like the perfect time to do just that.
The outfit of choice is an outfit I’ve worn around 3 times already this year, which is daft considering the amount of party wear I’ve splurged on this season alone (when will I learn!?) But it’s one of those outfits that makes me feel utterly insane! It has all the elements I love in a look including the high neck, long sleeved top by MSGM, one of my most favourite of new brands! MSGM just know how to take retro shapes and combine them with modern design elements, colour and prints; two key elements to any new label in my life. Sequins are quite obviously a no brainer at this time of year, made even more magical with the stripes lined with red beads! I have a lotta, lotta love for this top, can you tell?
I’ve then taken my failsafe A-line mini skirt and selected an AW17 update with the kilt detailing, once again a retro shape given a modern 2017 touch, bravo ASOS, bravo!
Finished off with some oh-so comfortable patent ankle boots by Topshop, my ultimate boots I have to admit and perfect for dancing all night long; then teamed with my beloved Stella McCartney handbag, a special one as it was a gift from my lovely George.
This is a V typical night out look for me all year round but especially at this time of year. It screams “Megan” and makes me feel like the most confident bad-ass version of myself!
And with that little outfit roundup/brain fart, now onto the things I "dislike" about Christmas. Now thats a sentence I never thought I'd say…

1.Michael Buble
Yeah, I said it! I just do not get the hype around Michael Buble and this time of year. IMO he is the cheesiest of all cheeseballs and I just do not understand his appeal. Give me Slade, Paul McCartney, Wizzard and Mariah any day of the week. Buble, you’re bobbins!
2.Watering your christmas tree
Since moving out of my family home, I’ve never bothered to water a Christmas tree. To be honest, I didn’t realise that was a thing! I’ve never seen my mum or dad do such a task so in my mind it wasn’t something that was done.
It was only when we moved into the flat and I got a little Christmas excited too soon and popped up our Christmas tree on November 27th.
This meant that our warm flat wilted our dry tree rather quickly indeed. After a speedy Google search it came to light that watering your tree was the done thing, who’d have thought it!
Now, I’m sitting here at 10:08pm staring at my beautiful sparkling Christmas tree that is looking a little bit sad I must admit. NOTE TO SELF WATER THE TREE!
2.5
Another thing tree related is having a pair of brand new puppies who are intent on dragging the fucker down… Just EXCELLENT!

3. Time for EVERYONE!
My fave thing about Christmas is spending time with my beautiful friends and family! I adore nothing more than a festive knees up with the fam in tow, however, one thing I find is hard to balance, especially now I’m a fully fledged adult and more sensitive and aware of the feelings of others, is the pressure I feel and most likely put on myself lets be real, of getting round everyone! We have a new house and new puppies so everyone wants to come and have a nosey and wants to wish us well but I still need to work, Christmas shop and do everything else we do at this time of year so I can’t help but feel sad that I may not be getting round everyone in time.
IF YOU’RE READING THIS FAMILY, JUST ROCK UP TO OURS, WE HAVE NO CHOICE IF YOU’RE ON OUR DOOR STEP K THANKS!

4. Wrapping presents
I am shit at wrapping presents as I get them. Each and every single year I promise myself that I’ll wrap as I go but yet, here I am, 20 gifts deep and with not a single one wrapped and with absolutely no intention of doing so.
If you’re one of those wizards who have shopped and wrapped all of your presents already, then please kindly do not brag about it, it makes us lesser wizards feel utterly crap indeed!

5. Buying all the party wear and going out once
Yeah, this. This is me each and every year. I go a bit cray cray for all things sequins and sparkles and I go out once.
I’m deffo more of a slippers and dressing gown kinda gal at this time of year.
6. Sprouts
Yeah, not a fan.
7. Parsnips
Yeah, even more of a non-fan!

8. Being self employed
Lets chat about this. When is it okay to throw in the towel and take some much needed time off from work?! Being self employed, it’s hard to know when is the right time to call it quits for the year. I often treat my job as I would any other 9-5 office job but when my job is somewhat 24/7 I do feel that I could do with an extra day or two, heck couldn't we all!? I am my own boss so I can totally decide when the right time is, but my goodness do I feel guilty for even taking my mornings a little slower than usual, anyone else!?
Until then I’ll just sit at my desk with a Gingerbread Latte and a box of Quality Street to get myself in the festive spirit.

9. Traditions become redundant
This is one that breaks my heart I must admit.
And it's all about those special traditions that you and your family have when you're a child and how they basically become a little redundant as we get older. Simply put, we just grow the hell up!
I love the various traditions different families have on Christmas day and the lead up to the big day, it's such a beautiful thing indeed. And whilst I admittedly couldn't bring myself to stop leaving a mince pie out for Saint Nic until I was about 18, I am excited to make new traditions this year with George and our new fur babies, traditions that will last a life time, or until actual babies show up at least.
But saying that, this year, Christmas eve will still be spent sleeping over at my parents house, there are just some traditions I don't ever want to break!

So thats it, 9 things I've learnt I really dislike about Christmas, I couldn't think of a 10th one I'm afraid, other than the fact theres a heck load of build up, which is ofc my fave bit about Christmas, and then it's all over and done with in a day, thats pretty damn annoying, but we already knew that didn't we! Oh and the hangovers are pretty shit too, but again, we already knew that.
I absolutely adore Christmas and almost everything about it 😉 it's a beautiful time of the year one that I'm already looking forward to in 2018 HA!
Merry Christmas Everyone and see you on Thursday for my final post before the big day!
x M

I adore Christmas too and the festive vibes of your outfit!

Thanks so much Rena xx
Oooooohhh these photos are AMAZING! Absolutely gorgeous. As someone who’s trying to learn how to be a better photographer, I’m intrigued to know how these can be so amazingly crisp in such low light! Did he use flash? You look so stunning!
Also, I completely agree with all of these, especially number 9 – I’m a massive fan of Christmas too, and it breaks my heart a little to see old traditions “wither away” as we grow older. But I guess we’ll just have to keep on coming up with new ones! xx

Ohhhh Laura thanks so much, I’m so thrilled that you love the images.
YES I’m blown away with how Adam made the imagery so crisp, I couldn’t believe it when he showed me the back of the camera.
Flash wasn’t used, I will be sure to ask him any tips and tricks thought for sure.
Thanks gorgeous girl and merry christmas xx
these pictures are incredible. and the colours!
also love the list. you have a great way of writing, girl.
Oh WOW thank you babe, have the best christmas x
Oh dear these pictures are everything! Love Love Love!
You’re writing my by far favourite blog, I’m loving every post.
Lots of love !
Oh Marlena, wow thank you SO much for the kind words on both the imagery and my writing, truly means so much x
I LOVE this outfit, Megan! And I think it’s so fun reading about the things you don’t like about Christmas…it’s different! Although I have to disagree with number 1 – haha but I think the main reason why I like Michael Buble is just because he’s from my hometown. HA!
Ahhh Victoria, thanks so much for being so lovely! Means the world that you’ve enjoyed this alternative Christmas angle.
HAHA each to their own girlie girl, he’s just a little too cheddar cheese for me haha x
These photos are stunning, Adam Mane is really a talented photographer, I love the lighting, as I love your sequin top, it is so different from what I’m used to see in sequin tops, and it’s very much my style ^^
One thing I hate about Christmas is buying presents, or better, thinking about what I want to get to every specific person, because I don’t want to give them an half-assed present or something impersonal; but when ideas are scarce it’s tiring and extremely anxiety-inducing 🙁
On the other hand, I love wrapping presents and getting creative with ribbons and paper!
Anither thing I dislike about Christmas is that I’ve lost a bit of the Christmas spirit while getting older… everything felt more magical when I was younger, but this year I’m getting more excited, so let’s hope this one is going to be a magical Christmas again 🙂
Ohhh Anna thank you! Isn’t he just, I’m so blown away by his work!
I love getting creative when wrapping presents too, which reminds me I MUST get cracking with that tonight haha!
xoxox Have a gorgeous MAGICAL Christmas babe x
The sparkly shirt is gorgeous!
Also I’m with you on the sprouts and parsnips. No thank you!
Belle in Black and White
Thanks babe, glad you like it, I’m totally in lurrrve with it, it works with SO many things!
Ahhh yes, Parsnips suckkkkk haha x
Loving the look! Especially the sequin top! Only critisism… not everyone can afford the looks your blogging! £100 skirt, £291 top, £82 boots £300+ bag. A lot of your audience is young woman who are nowhere near on a wage to be splashing this amount of money on one outfit. Would be great to see more affordable looks!!
Glad you love the look Samantha.
Thanks for the feedback also, truly appreciate it.
The majority of my looks feature almost head-to-toe high-street pieces, similarly to this look which has both the skirt and the boots as high-street items. My audience is a direct split of high street lovers and luxury lovers so I always bare that in mind when creating my content, however each look is here to inspire and I’m glad you’ve enjoyed this one all the same.
Thanks again babe x
These photos are insane, and also I started planning Christmas 2018 on like December 28th 2017. It’s fine. YOU HAVE TO BE PREPARED! Plus, day after Christmas is the best time to buy next years decorations.
November***
HAHA I’m SO glad I’m not the only one ahahahah x
I’m so guilty of buying a million party wear pieces and going out once haha! Great post Megan 🙂 xxx
HAHA we’re SO daft! x
