Here we are, I'm back, but granted, I wrote this before Christmas even came around, I told you in my last post that I was serious about taking some time off this festive season!
I truly hope you all had the most gorgeous of Christmas' I really do! I'm sure I did too. But as I'm writing this pre Christmas day, I can't know for sure. Fingers crossed mine and George's hosting skills were up to scratch and please lord say we didn't burn the turkey!
But today I wanted to keep things simple and quite old school style blogging and just give you a little dose of NYE style inspiration. The kind of thing I'll most likely be rocking, whatever I end up doing, I currently have zero plans but again, I'm sure I will do by the time this post goes live... Please? Someone? Anyone!?
We've gone cray cray on all things sparkles this season, as I knew we would. Partly because we always do, it's Christmas after all, but mostly I knew we'd ALL go wild for a touch of sparkle or two because it was a key trend for AW17. Everything from denim to t-shirt's were emblazoned with a sprinkle of glitter or sparkle and I think I may well be done with it... Maybe!?
So with that bombshell, I'm coming at NYE from a different angle. An angle that involves velvet, because it is Christmas after all, but that involves suiting instead, something we ALL know makes me feel pretty damn powerful indeed.

A suit is SUCH a great piece to invest in at this time of year.
First up it's two pieces so it offers ample styling opportunities. Whether you wear both pieces together, as I have done here. Or you rock each item separately in a plethora of ways, it's a sure-fired way to keep that pesky "cost per wear" seriously low indeed.
Secondly it's highly unlikely, especially on New Years Eve that anyone else will be rocking a two-piece suit. NYE has always been about sparkly and spangly dresses so why not throw a curve ball and rock up to your girls night out in a killer midnight blue two-piece suit a la this baby by Miss Selfridge... Just saying.

Keep it super cool and totally low key with a ribbed tee or even a slogan T-shirt and a messy up-do to portray those "I just threw this together and look really fooking cool too" vibes.
Upping the ante once more with the accessories; orange perspex drop earrings from Topshop, yet more velvet, this time in a beautiful rust shade with the platform shoes of my dreams from Prada, and finally a highly impractical yet oh so adorable mini bag by Marc Jacobs, SORTED!
A look that is slightly undone in parts but a look that is powerful, sexy and understated, three of the most wonderful or adjectives don't you think? This is TOTALLY the kind of thing I'll be rocking this NYE (if I make any plans that is!?) and would love to hear that some of you ladies will be doing the same.
Let me know and Happy Freaking New Year!
x M

Oh HELL YES! x
I never liked wearing suits, but seeing how you style ’em and how you choose such bold suit choices makes me want to rethink investing in suits. 🙂 I have no NYE plans too as of now, but honestly, I’m totes fine with spending it at home maybe catching up on shows or reading a book #introvert hahahaha
Ahhh I’m glad to hear you may have been converted to the power of the suit.
Oh yes! That sounds dreamy and is becoming more and more likely that we’ll do the same tbh.
Enjoy m’lovely x
