Hello there everyone, I hope you all had a rather marvellous weekend indeed.
I didn’t really get the chance of a “weekend, weekend” what with London Fashion Week and all that, but I have to say, despite saying that last year was my fave to date (see this post here) this year trumped it by a landslide, but more on that in Thursdays post.
Today, I thought I’d go back to the good ole days, when I would attend LFW and report back on what I was lucky enough to see. Its been a long while since I’ve done a full catwalk report, but I am SO excited to be back to it, especially as I’m going to be divulging you with all the goings on backstage and on the catwalk at the House of Holland show.
If you’ve been following along this journey with me, you’ll know that I interned at House of Holland 5 years ago now, working behind the scenes on two of their incredible LFW shows. This year, I headed backstage, as me, rather than as an intern and I felt completely and utterly honoured to do so, it was a real pinch me moment for sure!
So anyway, enough on the back story (let me know if you’d like an updated post on my fashion history) and lets get on with all the goss and of course, my review on the House of Holland SS18 collection.

Arriving at the Topshop Show space, now situated conveniently in London’s Soho, 90 minutes before the show was due to air, the backstage area at the House of Holland show was awash with excitement, a real buzz in the air and an electric atmosphere that was oh so nostalgic to me, taking me straight back to my days as an intern.
Organised chaos throughout the backstage area as Tony & Guy worked on the hair, The Body Shop on the make up, Nails Inc on the nails (duh) and St Tropez tanning the models on the spot.
The hair was right up my street with messy, unkempt waves whilst the make up was kept minimal with dewy skin and unruly eyebrows yet with eye lids that packed a punch in bold shades of orange, blue and pink, something I am totally getting on board with ahead of SS18.

So now for the collection itself, transporting us to the high seas, the House of Holland SS18 collection was inspired by all things pirates; hypnotising us with waves throughout in nautical shades, rainbow-hues and even monochrome, stripes are here and here to stay, but this time with a psychedelic effect.
As always, Henry and his team brought fun to fashion with rainbow shades, cheeky slogans, tinsel sandals and pirate hats to boot.
Sending models off the deep end and into the wavy catwalk, fit with pirate ship and all; the collection was filled with colour as always, just one of the many reasons I adore the brand so much. Taking us out to the ocean with everything from seaweed tinsel sandals, wavy stripes, to sea life embroidery which graced a delicious two piece (on my wishlist) and asymmetric midi dress

Whilst all things high seas were evident throughout the show, from the collection itself, to the set and even the soundtrack, something I ALWAYS look forward to when it comes to House of Holland LFW shows, which included tracks from The Streets album, Original Pirate Material, there were touches of the seventies (hurrah) with chocolate brown suede co-ords and multi-coloured crochet, something I am utterly thrilled about as a huge fan of the seventies era!
Accessories included ruffled tricorn hats, (the actual name for a pirate hat, who knew!?) an update from last season’s cowboy hat, printed socks with tinsel sandals, something I am DEFINITELY going to dabble in come summer 2018. Along with fish net shopper bags with fluoro beading which complimented the epic array of HoH psychedelic sunglasses, yet another thing I’m naturally thrilled about.

House of Holland knocked it out of the park, or the pirate ship should we say, with yet another fun filled collection, one of which I suspect will be a complete sell out and I’m sure you, like me, are itching to get your hands on. I’m eyeing up the rainbow knit, embroidered pant suit and wave print palazzo trousers, what about you?

Yessss House of Holland is always my favourite show of LFW, I’m so happy you’ve done this post! The photos are great and I, also, definitely need tinsel sandals next summer x

Oh Emma yay I’m so glad you enjoyed the post and you’re with me on HoH being the highlight of fash week x
So catwalk fashion isn’t usually my first love, but I can definitely get on board with midi dresses! And tinsel sandals are definitely something that I’ll try and make work. However, I am 100% all about the messy, natural, unkempt waves look and natural makeup!

I couldn’t agree with you more babe and I’m so thrilled you enjoyed this post 🙂 x
I loved this collection, but I really wish more shows during LFW represented real women (in shapes, sizes, and colour), which already seems to be the trend at NYFW. It’s time.
I absolutely LOVE House of Holland.
I am actually using this collection as my inspiration for my Graded Unit for HND Hairdressing and this piece helped me gain a better insight as to what it was like backstage, so thank you! If yourself or anyone else in the team have any tips or advice that can help me with my work please let me know!
Henry is an authentic genius and he never fails to bring personality to the catwalk
