Right now, in a world full of sadness and uncertainty, I'm turning to the only thing I know that will make me feel a little happier... Clothes. We all have those certain pick me ups, whether that be a feel good film, a bar of Galaxy chocolate or a cuddle with our momma's, heck, my pick me up's involve ALL of the above. But when it comes to dressing, I know there are a few key pieces and combinations that can make me feel a lot better, or at least make me seem that I'm doing alright.
The past few weeks, despite travelling a little bit, have been unlike any week's I've had before. I've felt sadness deep within the pit of me and an overwhelming sense of heartbreak that I can't seem to shake. I wrote a post last week explaining exactly how I feel; a post I wrote because the thought of going back to business as usual, without having acknowledged the terrible tragedy seemed unthinkable. Now, when I'm writing this on Monday 5th June, after our third terrorist attack in three months, the sadness has been intensified some more, something I didn't think could ever be possible.
However, we have to continue to live life to the fullest, to show these cowards that we aren't afraid. To don our most wackiest of outfit combinations because they make us feel sassy, empowered and happy. We will keep on keeping on in the only way we (I) know how, through style.
So, with that, I bring to you the failsafe outfit for times when I'm not at my happiest. An outfit that is bold, bright and fun through and through. An outfit that makes me feel awesome. And an outfit that is made up of the most simple of pieces and cut's but has been executed to the max!

Orange, green, yellow and red, the ultimate in summer hues. Colours that make us think of warmth, of the earth, of nature and of summertime. Combining all of these colours together was not something I intended I have to say. I knew I wanted to share this awesome white T-shirt with palm print ruffle detailing by Storets, with you. But I didn't envisage a combination such as this, with oh so many colours and elements to it, but I bloody well love it and the happy feels the colours connote.
So yes, the tee, it's such a bloody belter and is currently one of my most favourite of items in my wardrobe. It's a piece I constantly keep reaching for as it brings me a lot of joy. I'm a sucker for anything palm print related and you know I can't resist a good ruffle, so it has to be my dream top situation indeed.
Teaming it with my fail safe kick flares from Boohoo (donkeys years old) and my current favourite shoe of choice, which just so happens to be sold out everywhere (sorry), from Mango.

SUNGLASSES- PRADA c/o SUNGLASSES SHOP, JACKET- ASOS, TOP- c/o STORETS, TROUSERS- BOOHOO (super old, sorry), SOCKS- ASOS, SHOES- MANGO (sold out), BAG- LOEWE

We've got the earth segment of the look DOWN! Now to throw in some fire with these oh-so cool ankle socks by ASOS. I'm a huge advocate for the power of the ankle sock, they add such a fun element to any look and with SO many variations of the humble ankle sock on the high street lately, it's hard not to curate quite the collection. I added these to my basket on a complete whim but am so glad I did. They really work with my much loved Mango shoes and add THE most fun of additions to this look and others alike.
To tie the whole red and orange shade of the socks together I threw in my most favourite of bags with the Loewe Puzzle Bag, my ultimate bag when I need to carry ALL my worldly goods around with me and of course my oversized orange denim jacket, again from ASOS.
There is something about the boxy fit of this jacket that makes me feel awesome. It's slightly cropped, which for me, at 5ft4 is pretty perfect indeed and adds a somewhat boyish element to any look. Not to mention the totally divine orange shade of course.

So we have the earth and the fire and thanks to the good ole Mancunian weather we had the wind too, Earth Wind and Fire ahaha!
This look is perfect for down days in the city, for days when I'm not feeling myself, it's an outfit I know I can rely on to pick me back up again.
It's bold, it's colourful and it's totally playful too, which is why it's currently an outfit failsafe for me. Providing a smile for anyone who glimpses my way.
What is your go-to look for those days you're not feeling to cheery? I'd absolutely love to hear it.
I don't say it much but, Love y'all LOADS and PLEASE go out and vote today, make your voice be heard!
x M

I love this jumper so so much, the printed ruffles are amazing. Also I’m catching up on posts super slow but completely understand where you’re coming from with the sadness of things lately – we do need to go out and show we won’t be affected by this and that we can stand together, despite awful circimstances.
