*Post in collaboration with British Vogue*
British fashion is without a doubt the best in the world. There is nothing quite like the UK and it's sense of style both physically through dressing and of course mentally.
British fashion, for me is all about attitude. It's the whole relaxed nature, the "give a fuq!?" approach to style that makes it something really, truly special.
Looking back through the ages it's clear to see that this has always been the case, whether it be with the swinging sixties, seventies or the nineties, British subcultures have paved the way for fashion, inspiring designers and therefore consumers alike and shaping the way in which we dress today.
I've always been really, totally fascinated by British Subcultures, having focused on these throughout a number of projects whilst at university, and I believe that I am subconsciously inspired by a different British subculture on a daily basis when it comes to clothing my body for the day.
Whether that be thanks to the sixties mods, the skinheads of the eighties or the grunge-sters of my youth in the nineties, there is a clear influence there and it's something I am very proud to be inspired by.

To celebrate British Fashion, Vogue have recently launched a series of videos named "The Roots Of British Style" where each episode explores a different way in which the British fashion scene and the style of today have been inspired by that of a particular fashion movement of the past.
This week's episode tackles that of the New Traditionalists, and personally something that has really struck a cord with me.
This particular trend is heavily inspired by the grunge and punk culture of the nineties, however championing it in a way that sees the mixing and matching of pieces to create an oh-so rebellious look.
If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know that I am a HUGE advocate for clashing and rebelling against the trends, throwing them all into one to create something totally fun and unique to you, thats why this episode of the series really rang true for me.
Also within the episode, we take a look into the cultural heritage of British fashion and delve into the UK's rich textile industry, which thanks to Momma Ellaby, is something I'm always oh-so interested to learn more about.

In celebration of this all new series of videos, Vogue and River Island have teamed up and challenged me to create my own New Traditionalist look and boy was this a fun challenge to accept.
As you can see I've gone for the typical grunge accessory of the beanie, however this is softened by the totally beautiful embroidery which is key for this season. Teamed with a grunge-meets-sports long sleeved tee and layered with a patched up denim jacket, it has all the elements of your upmost grunge get-up, however with a rebellious twist of girlish accents due to the floral design throughout. I've then thrown in some oh-so Megan and oh-so sixties inspired pieces with the pink double-breasted coat and metallic heeled chelsea boot, just to rebel against the whole grunge trend that little bit more and to totally encompass the New Traditionalist look.

And what do you think to my New Traditionalist look? Pretty cool huh, I've really enjoyed putting my styling mantras to the test and being inspired once again by that of Britain's fashion past. Make sure you check out the video below, I'd love to hear what you thought of my look and let's discuss the awesome Vogue series in the comments below, I'd love to see how it inspires you next.

That video was fantastic and ugh Stella Tennant. But yeah, agreed–British fashion is the best if only for McQueen, let alone everything else y’all have given us. I’m always wanting to move to the UK…some day!!!!
