If you've been doing your AW16 trend research this season you'll know that the whole sportswear vibe is back with a bang, however, this time with a somewhat grunge twist which is totally up my street. Sportswear is a trend that has been teetering the line for some time now and to be perfectly honest, other than my love of trainers, it's not been a trend I've enjoyed all that much. Sports and streetwear just isn't really my bag, as I'm sure you already know... Hello Captain Obvious!
However, this season sportswear has been combined with that nineties grunge touch which makes it all the more wearable if you're anything like me when it comes to style and how you enjoy dressing.
It's a trend that was inspired by street style, which is something that really resonates with me. I love it when us mere mortals inspire that of the designer giants enough to be able to dream up an entire collection around it, now that's pretty special right?
Key pieces include hoodies, checks teamed with winter florals, deconstructed denim... Think frays and rips of an exaggerated nature and of course tonnes of black pieces.
Look to the likes of Vetements for this trend styled from head to toe and similarly to that of Alexander Wang for the ultimate Grunge Spirit styling inspo. I've also dedicated an entire video to this trend so do feel free to check that out here.
Loud and proud slogans are also key for this trend, which is why I love this knit by Etre Cecile so much, especially when teamed with the sportswear element of these jogging bottoms... Who knew sportswear could be so alternative ey? The jocks and the nerds reunite and it's never felt so good!
