Today is 22nd September and on Saturday 24th September it will be exactly four months since my summer started and I set myself some goals to achieve throughout the warmer months (read it here), summer has been and gone and to be honest it’s been totally wonderful. I’ve had a great summer filled with long days, warm nights, friends, family and tonnes of fun. I set this date in my diary 4 months ago to look over the summer of 2016 and to see whether I was able to achieve those rather realistic goals of which I set myself back in May.
And funnily enough this date falls on the day of the equinox, the instant of which the plane of the Earth's equator passes through the centre of the Sun. It simply means “equal night” in Latin and refers to the roughly 12-hour day and night that occurs only twice a year which is the reason the Earth has seasons in the first place. So anyway, Geography lesson over, what I’m trying to say is Autumn is officially here and let’s see what I achieved this summer k?
My goals consisted of travelling as often as possible, making memories with friends old and new, with the odd personal goal thrown in for good measure, so lets get cracking on goal numero uno.

So my first goal for summer 2016 was to “to travel as often and as regularly as I can"
And I can safely and confidently say that I did just that. I said yes to opportunities that saw me venture on 12 hour press trips to Portugal, weekend’s spent in Rome with a great team of girl bosses. Not to mention a summer holiday of my dreams with the man of my dreams to the most beautiful place I have ever been… HELLO SANTORINI (read about it here)
So that’s three trips ticked off, but could I have done more? Absolutely, of course I could. I turned down two trips to destinations such as Magaluf strategically disguised as Mallorca and another to Ibiza, simply as they weren’t quite right for me… I mean, can you even imagine me dancing my way up a Magaluf or Ibizan strip… I think not.
So with my first goal, I am going to say that I very much achieved what I wanted to achieve. I didn’t break any records for the number of destinations visited, but I selected those that were right for me and for you guys and loved every second of it. I’m so grateful to be able to travel but think this will definitely be another goal of mine for summer 2017.

Goal two was all about making memories with the ones I love. Stating how I had “found the love of my life, cemented friendships with those near and far, I want to make this summer full of wonderful memories to look back on, and smile”
Well, unfortunately I haven’t achieved this goal, especially when it comes to those I left behind in London and my dear uni girls. Life happens you know, and with busy work schedules and even busier weekend’s it’s been near impossible to get a date locked in the diary for more than one week before something comes up for one of us. I’m carrying this goal across to the colder months and I am determined to get to London to see my girlies, head to Leeds to see my uni girls new pad, whilst visiting blogger pals in Scotland and just generally having more girlie time.
I’ve had the most wonderful summer spending time with George, my dear friends Ollz and Beattie and of course my wonderful family, but time has FLOWN by and I’ve not seen half of the people I wanted to… To be continued for sure.

Okay so goal three is a touchy one as I am just THREE THOUSAND FOLLOWERS AWAY from hitting it. This goal was to achieve 100,000 followers over on Instagram and to be perfectly honest, I’m actually rather shocked at how close I am to reaching that milestone. I thought it would have been one of those laughable unachievable goals but turns out, not so much.
This summer I’ve learnt a lot about the way in which I like to tackle Instagram. Before summer began, and through working at ASOS, I looked at Instagram as a regimented platform of which every image had to be fine-tuned to within an inch of it’s life hence completely sucking out any kind of fun that came hand in hand with the much loved app. Now I’ve totally relaxed with the social platform and I’m looking towards quality over quantity, not fretting if I haven’t hit my daily quota of three Insta’s a day… Nobody is going to die, we’re not saving lives here people!
Anyway, 97k I’m pretty proud of that one all the same, roll on 100k ey?

And finally goal four was all about me, myself and I. A little personal goal to look and feel great and I must say, I’ve definitely achieved it.
I’ve spent countless summer’s in my time absolutely fretting over my body and the thought of putting said body into a bikini; but this year, after choosing to eat better and in moderation (you guys know I’m a sucker for cheese, bread and wine) I set my body woes aside and purchased a high-waisted bikini… My prayers were answered, I felt absolutely freaking awesome on the beaches of Santorini and when you feel good, you look good and vice versa. Diets can go and do one IMO... As can skimpy bikini's and sucking in your stomach until your ribs pop out every time a hottie walks down the beach. I’ve never felt better about my short legs, my tiny buddha belly, wobbly bum and more… I’m me and I’m totally ok with it.

So there we go, two goals out of four well and truly achieved, whilst two others were semi achieved but will get carried over into the Autumnal months.
Stay tuned for next week where I shall be sharing my goals for the colder months, but be warned, there is double the time between Autumn and Summer which means double the goals, see you then.

Seriously inspiring post Megan and these shots are just divine! xxx
I love the idea of setting ‘seasonal goals’ seems much more realistic than yearly goals that your forget to re-visit!

There’s no shame in not quite reaching a goal – I make goals every month in my favourites videos and sometimes I do not make them, and I feel a bit embarrassed but if you try and only achieve a fraction, then that is achievement enough! And congrats on almost 100K girl!
