We’re all talking about transitional dressing right now, what with the cities of which we live feeling hotter than the sun (oh hyperbole aren’t you just wonderful) despite nearing the end of September… WHAT THE!?
Myself included, I’ve indulged in a number of transitional related topics (see here, and oh here too) but this week I’m going to be touching on my summer bucket list (in Thursday’s post) and recapping what it is I’ve achieved this season, whilst also setting some unlikely targets for the season ahead, whereas in today’s post I’m looking at the trends I’ve LOVED throughout summer, encompassing them in one, oh so transitional get-up and why I’m excited to bring them through with me to the colder months.
IN STEPS PINK HUES, THE NEW RUFFLES AND PATCHES AHOY!

Yep, pink is a shade that we’ve all been loving this season. I’ve really enjoyed injecting the girlie hue into my sometimes tomboy-esque and rock & roll inspired looks to create something totally new and unexpected. I’ve also really loved seeing how other girls have championed summers favourite hue especially those Scandi girls. It’s always so great and oh so inspiring to see how different people tackle different trends and it certainly also reassures the fact that everyone, no matter how “cool” and anti-fashion they are, they always incorporate trends in someway… I mean, we all remember THAT scene from Devil Wears Prada now don’t we!

Throughout summer I was ALL about ruffles, ruffles and more ruffles. If there was a blouse adorned in ruffles, a dress detailed in ruffles or a pair of jeans championing a ruffled hem then you can bet yo bottom dollar that I was rocking it.
This is a trend that I very much hope to continue rocking into the winter months, however this time in a tiered format. Tiered ruffles are just the ticket to take your ruffles through to autumn/winter. Whether that be knitwear featuring heavily tiered sleeves such as this baby by Lost Ink or tiered dressed championing that ra-ra twenties aesthetic, ruffles aren’t going anywhere fast for the upcoming season.

And finally patches. Personalisation continues to be a HUGE trend for the season ahead; from fashion to beauty to automobiles to perfecting the perfect sandwich at Subway, if we can personalise it, we’re one very happy customer indeed.
DIY style denim is something I’ve loved testing out this summer, if that be with my customised denim jacket from this post, or the recent up cycling project I did where I created my own denim cross body bag with patch detailing that you can spy in this video, adding a little summin-summin to your favourite pieces is all in a stylists day’s work.
However, time is precious and with that we can look to our favourite shopping destinations to do the hard work for us. Take these patch-it-up denim mom jeans from River Island, they’re totally perfect in every department, from figure flattering shape, the indigo wash and the patches with warning signs such as “Don’t Panic” and celebrate our bodies with, “Thick thighs save lives” a personal favourite of mine I must say.

So there we go three trends from the summer months that I’ll be taking through with me to autumn/winter, what do you think? I’d love to know if there are any trends you’ll be bring with you this season along with which of the latest trends you’re excited to incorporate them with.
