I write this today, on what feels like the second day of summer we've had since May... WHAT THE!? I simply cannot believe how much our seasons are changing, we had a freakishly warm May, a shocking June, whilst July just about seems to be picking up... Too little too late if you ask me.
One of the main reasons that my love for the UK is so strong is that we actually get real seasons. We have freezing cold winters, crisp and crunchy autumn, mild and floral spring and sweltering summers... Or at least we did. I think summer should be moved back a few months officially, September and October are becoming freakishly warm in an Indian summer kinda way and it's not fair that we spend our so-called summer, peering out of the window wishing for warmer climates, and don't get me started on the poor school kids and their 6 week summer holidays.

Recently, I've been playing a little game with our so-called summer and challenging it to prove me wrong. Leaving the house without a jacket, abandoning my umbrella and throwing fire to the wind, in quite the literal sense and whacking out my most short shorts in the hope that the sun plays ball and comes out to play... For a while at least.
The short shorts I speak of have got to be my most favourite of purchases in a long while.
Whilst killing time in the Zara sale a few weeks back I spied this gorgeous cherry print peeking through amongst the jam packed rails of skirts. You know me, I'm a sucker for a novelty print so scurried over, only to find they were in fact shorts. A little disappointed and after a brief thought of "Oh hell no" I decided what the heck, lets try them on.
And I am so glad I did, they're the perfect mix of retro meets modern and they fit like an absolute glove. What is it about shorts that scares us so much? Why does it feel so different to wearing a skirt? When in fact when you think about it, shorts are much less restricting than a mini skirt, but there is just something about wearing shorts that makes me feel that all eyes are on me.

But hey, let them stare because I feel bladdy awesome in them, especially when rocked up with my favourite Bowie band tee, my trusty leather jacket and black boot combo and the sunglasses of my dreams. A summer all rounder and one I can't wait to wear again, sans leather jacket and boots, go on sunshine, I dare ya!
