Having attended Leeds Festival around 4 times when I was younger I was super excited to see how Reading would match up; and, shockingly so, Reading you do it better than us Northerners (I can’t believe I’m saying that)
So myself and my top hun George headed down on Friday evening for a weekend of fun and music. We pitched up, got on the cider and made it just in time for PEACE, which, I have to say was definitely a highlight of the whole weekend for me. Such an awesome and tight set, it was my first time seeing them live and it’s got me all excited to catch them back in Manchester in October.
Following Peace we met up with my pal Sedge and caught Limp Bizkit and New Found Glory… Not really my thing but watching George & Sedge have the time of their lives was sheer brilliance!
Several ciders later and it was Saturday and the day I’d been waiting for…
George was like an excitable child this morning so we managed (somehow) to sneak into the arena for 830; such a strange experience seeing a festival site completely empty, but rather special to have the place entirely to ourselves.
On the cider once again we saw the likes of Marmozets, who as usual did not dissapoint, Slaves, Blossoms, Circa Waves (TSHIRT WEATHER) Royal Blood, Catfish & The Bottlemen and finally Metallica.
It was a really belting day spent with some of the best people, with each and every band being utterly awesome!
Finally the final day arrived ๐ and we hit the bar early (standard) as we had a bit of a gap until our chosen bands started. Catching up with old friends and making new ones was on the agenda for our morning and it was bladdy lavly to sit in the (semi) sunshine, drinking and chatting: what summer and festivals are all about dontcha think?
Once the music began we managed to catch Against Me, Jamie T, The Cribs, Years & Years, The Maccabees and of course, the absolutely INCREDIBLE The Libertines, I couldn’t think of a better way to close what was the most amazing weekend.
So there we go, my Reading Festival round up, an absolute belter of a weekend and pretty much my dream festival line up. I really hope you enjoyed it and hears to next years set of festival coverage.
