Hello everyone and welcome back to the all new meganellaby.com, WOW doesn’t that sound weird!
So, as you can see we have an all new name, an all new look and I really hope you love it as much as I do.
Pagesbymegan is no more, which is sad and it really is an end of what was a very exciting era.
But alas here we are with meganellaby.com and I thought I’d take this first post back after one week away, to explain what’s new around here, what we’ve updated, what you can expect to see and all the reasons behind the newness, who’s excited!?!?!
So the all new rebrand has been in the works for the past couple of months, brought to fruition by the wonderful Cat from Gatto.
Gatto were the ones that took my very first and very basic blog name whatsnewpussycatt (yes with two t’s, hands up who was around back then!?) to the next level with pagesbymegan.com, so it felt only right to keep it in the family and work with Gatto once again for what is the third and final evolution of my little slice of internet.
Gatto and more specifically Cat, is quite honestly the dreamiest lady to work with. She just gets it and she gets me; finishing my sentences, jinxing with the same ideas and bringing my very sporadic and often very excitable visions to life. From the very first point, to the initial moodboard, to the logo mock-ups, to the navigational do’s, don’ts and maybes, to the final switcharoo and transfer, Cat has been the one to put it all into place, and without ever loosing her cool with me, even if I am a little* on the clueless side when it comes to anything HTML and coding.
She’s been a complete dream to work with and I am totally and utterly thrilled with my new blog, meganellaby.com, I don’t think that will ever stop sounding weird to me.
*A LOT clueless
I decided to drop pagesbymegan.com, after much deliberation and some persuasion purely because there were very few cons, and tonnes of pros for doing so.
My reasoning for not selecting my name as my domain in the first place was that I didn’t want my full-name to be known on the internet, I was afraid of what might happen if you did know my full name, so opted to simply share my forename, something that now sounds oh-so ridiculous indeed.
But little did I know that Instagram would hot up the way it did and I certainly didn’t expect to start a YouTube channel.
So that was it, my name was out there regardless if I liked it or not (for the record, I do like it).
So now that people know my full name (lol duh) it only made sense to keep everything cohesive and inline with one another so here we have meganellaby.com
This is a very proud moment for me I have to admit, so huge apologies if this post is a little excitable to say the least, I’m just honestly so proud and so excited to share what Cat and I have been working on for all these months, to have you explore the page for yourself and to hear your thoughts on our hard work, I am SO EXCITED!
We have a new name, a new logo, some new features such as the shopping list, which I will update every few days with the things I’m lusting after in hope to inspire you with whatever occasion, event or otherwise that you need help with (simply scroll down to the bottom of the homepage to find it). We have easy access to my latest YouTube videos, just in case you’re not all that big on YouTube as a platform, or maybe you had no idea I created two videos a week? Now they’re all here in one place for you to take a peek at every Wednesday and Sunday.
We’ve also decided to streamline the tabs section to keep things a little clearer. Simply click the Pages (see what we did there, a nod to Pagesbymegan) button to select a specific category, or browse the revolving carousel for the latest goings on.
Some things haven’t changed so much around here, such as my beloved HUGE imagery by the legend that is Sophie Traynor!
Ive always wanted to ensure that my photography is at the forefront of my blog, as thats where the beauty of style blogging lies, in the imagery. Sophie and I work tirelessly to bring the best possible imagery to inspire you wonderful bunch with, and I know you LOVE seeing what I’m wearing and I know you really appreciate the big ass images, so that was something Cat and I were very keen to continue with.
My blog as a whole is my baby, always has been and always will be, but photography is something extremely important to me as a passion, therefore it is truly wonderful to be able to have the images Sophie and I work so hard on, taking up the majority of the blog space.
Sophie and I are currently working on ways to up the photography even more, starting with this post right here (I love it and hope you do too) so stay tuned for more of that. I’m so proud of the once PBM now meganellaby.com girl gang, Cat and Soph I don’t know what I’d do without you babes
We still have the Spotify song of the post as I know tonnes of you love that feature. If you hadn’t noticed it before, I select a song to accompany every single post, whether that be inspired by what I’m writing or what I’m wearing or simply how I’m feeling that day. I like to envisage you guys reading the post and listening to the song at the same time and that is so so cool for me!
The shop page is still in full force and hopefully a lot more useful due to having a shed load more products on it. These are the pieces you’ll see me wearing across all channels such as Instagram and YouTube along with my blog too. In addition to that we’ve also created a section called “The Regulars” which is made up of my styling essentials, the pieces I wear week in and week out, my failsafe, must have items if you will. I’m hoping this makes it much easier for you to buy certain items from my outfits or even better, the whole look in one place.
And finally I couldn’t finish up here without talking about my favourite part of the all new design, the logo.
This was something Cat and I agonised over for weeks. It was something I was really keen to get right, something I knew was going to define me and to be the first thing to decipher an opinion on my work with new readers, so it of course had to be spot on.
I looked at my blog, when it was pagesbymegan and couldn’t see a single piece of personality or anything (other than the photographs ofc) that reflected the person I am. It was black and white for a start, something I must admit I believed to be the “uniform” of style bloggers, which I now realise is most definitely not the case.
I want my blog to reflect my personality, my style and my love of colour. Colour is something that makes me insanely happy, and is something you lot know I feature A LOT of around here.
Mirroring my love of colour into my newly named blog logo, I really feel has worked to add some fun and inject some of me back into my blog, without having to read a single line, whilst also allowing meganellaby.com to take a step away from the monochromatic uniform of personal style blogs, which I think you’d all agree does not reflect my style one ounce.
The retro typeface of my logo is something I’ve envisaged, trialled and tested for some time and once I’d found the perfect one (it took me a while?) I began implementing it across my YouTube channel within the thumbnails, ready for everything to become one.
I hope to be able to switch up the colour-ways each season to reflect current colour trends as you know I’m a trends girl at heart, so I look forward to hearing your thoughts about the potential seasonal change up.
I am so incredibly thrilled with the way in which my branding and my blog as a whole looks. It’s exactly how I wanted it to be, colourful, fast and blog-like… I write a blog, I do not write a website, I am a blogger and I wanted my blog to feel like just that, a blog. So buttons and widgets are minimal and you’re still able to see a full post per page, I hope you love it.
So there we have it; From whatsnewpussycatt, to pagesbymegan and now to meganellaby.com, it’s been a rollercoaster ride but I am SO excited for what’s to come for us all.
Pagesbymegan was SO good to me, a time like nothing else, a time that I never in a million years expected and a time that brought me tremendous opportunities that I could never have dreamed of. But as the pagesbymegan chapter closes, I can’t help but think the meganellaby.com chapter is going to be the best one yet.
I can’t wait to experience it all with you by my side. Thanks for everything you lot, thanks for always reading and for being the driving force behind everything I do.
Let’s stay weird and rock this new chapter like the bad ass’ we are, together!
